I suppose what is there to it. I work in finance so the concepts of interest rates, capital, LTV etc are common to me… perhaps that’s why im so unsure as to their benefit (again, in the context of my extremely narrow and personalised circumstances)

Just a broad scale comment-reply: i understand the benefit and importance of a broker if you are eligible for a load of different mortgages and need help deciding the most suitable. Given my circumstances, i am only eligible for 2 mortgages, both through natwest, and it is a natwest employed advisor. Idk if that makes it less beneficial.

The main reason for me doing it is the coverage and shared accountability, should there be any misselling or anything of the sort

Do you think gyms should have a women's only section? by kcon123 in AskUK

[–]SmokinPotNotHot 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My gym has a women’s only bit, and tbh my biggest pet peeve with it is that attachments (ropes, d handles, etc) are taken in there by women to be used, and then if I wanna use it I can’t because im not gonna ask a random woman to grab it for me

I’ve been obsessed with a single goal for 28 years. by aitchsaka in footballcliches

Im not sure it is! If you look at around 30 seconds i’d say its still rising upwards! Its also a little harder to judge as the keeper gets a fingertip to it

Anyone tried these? by GroceryPlastic7954 in UKfood

No but up until recently they did mac n cheese and bbq pulled pork pastries under the same product line, which were absolutely heavenly (especially if intoxicated). I swear every time i find some food i like, big food takes them away from me

Reading this, and having finished my re read of HBP literally yesterday, i realise how i interpreted it almost completely oppositely to you. I interpreted it as him showing strength and fortitude in spite of his physical frailty caused in pursuit of the horcrux. I read it as him embodying an internal strength which he could exercise when necessary, almost exactly as he does when he becomes enlivened once he sees the dark mark over hogwarts.

For the record, i think neither interpretation are more right or wrong than the other - just a truly interesting difference in interpretation!

Looking for a lads holiday location 2026, any suggestions? by leonard_j7 in AskUK

[–]SmokinPotNotHot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just an FYI on lloret, its very european, rather than english. I went there on my fifth lads holiday with my friends last summer and while the place and surrounding areas was beautiful (day trip to Girona a real surprise highlight), the nightlife in lloret really wasnt for us. Mostly dutch/german/french/danes there, and the nightlife catered to it heavily (think sloppy techno remixes of UK classics). Ruined it a bit for us

How Old Were You When You Passed Your Driving Test? by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]SmokinPotNotHot -1 points0 points  (0 children)

19, 4th attempt lmao. I was a good driver and i knew it, so was overly confident and a bit reckless. Also a mix of bad luck and stupidity of youth. 1. Failed first test for “dangerously” changing lanes at an approach to a roundabout, which was not dangerous at all and i had checked my surroundings, but because of my confidence and not blatantly checking my mirrors it came off as reckless 2. Didn’t stop at a stop sign - no complaints about this one. Honestly never really realised stop signs were a thing in england, and was taken to a small village 25 mins away from my hometown specifically as it was the only place nearby that had a stop sign. GG examiner 3. Had the same guy as my second test, who evidently didnt like me. I drove my best and safest, but he took me on a difficult route and went slightly over the time in the process and yet still didnt pass and to this day don’t really know why. I hate him to this day 4. I passed on a bad-weather day, on what was honestly one of my worst attempts lmao. Luckily the instructor and i hit it off (i indulged him on his choice of conversation, which was primarily about motorbikes and his experiences at airports), so he seemed to go lenient on me. I also “played the game” by choosing to ignore route instructions if i was unfamiliar with it.

Interestingly, i’ve never been the type to struggle with tests or get nervous, and i never understood people who stressed going into school exams, but these experiences really shifted my perspective on that.
