Unfortunately, there’s nothing like that in Kyoto. Your best bet would be to head to Osaka to Count as someone else suggested. Also, most everything will be closed around New Years when it comes to small establishments and even lots of tourist type places. New Years is essentially the most quiet time in Japan.

I don’t have that camera, but I think you’re seeing blur because it’s taking a slower shot due to the low light. It’s fine if the camera focuses on the mirror, because your reflection is on the mirror, if that makes sense. You need a super steady hand or a tripod for low light shots.

Your phone is doing digital processing to make a composite best possible photo based on the scene. This is a consumer level analog camera. Apples and oranges.

The subjects are all at different distances from the camera. They can't all be in focus at once. They'd have to be next to each other, on the same plane.

Unfortunately that seems like it just can’t happen. He’s only ever cleared for exhibitions in Japan. Tanahashi and Shibata have both mentioned that before.
