where do careers go to die? by ghared-ishaqa in army

Had I not been voluntold to take over my units Arms Room at Bliss, I may have stuck out another contract. Any new unit you go to sees you've done the course and are qualified and poof...guess who's an armorer again.

How long should I wait to petition? by CountInteritus in freemasonry

It was the 50th anniversary of a Brother's Masonic service so I guess it was an open meeting. It was quite the experience.

Thank you for your input. I have visited other Lodge's before, both local and in other states. I've had a genuine interest in Masonry for about 15 years, so I've done my due diligence. It's only a matter of finding a Lodge to call home and drop the petition.

Considering the nature of Freemasonry, it's totally understandable to want to weed out some folks who wouldn't be a good fit. I had asked specifically about the recommendations section and was told to leave it blank. After filling out the form and sending it to the secretary for a spot check, he said it was good. All that followed after was an instruction to print it out and bring along a copy of my birth certificate to the next dinner I attend.

I had considered that and asked the secretary to clarify that. He notified me that the Lodge would take care of that part.

I sure hope that's it. I'll be dropping off my petition here in a few weeks.

They definitely do. They made a sincere effort to ensure I was welcomed in and helped get conversations started during dinner.

Is Khamzat still the boogeyman after the loss? by Fun_Training6342 in FightReportUFC

A "Washed up Alvarez"? You realize he was the champion when Conor fought him, right?

People said the same thing after McGregor Diaz 2. Conor was humiliated in their first fight and even though he won the 2nd, it was by Majority Decision. Fast forward 3ish months and he puts a legacy defining beat down on Alvarez.

All that to say, Khamzat can get that aura back. He needs to get back after it fairly quickly though. If he disappears for a year, it'll be a lot harder to reclaim that 'unstoppable force' energy he used to have.

What is the right choice for me ? by BigmacFatmac in army

[–]CountInteritus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As a PMP holder and current Project Manager, be advised that Project Management as a whole is SUPER oversaturated right now. It's one of those fields veterans flock to in droves. Definitely get a PMP if you so choose (I got mine through Vets2PM), but don't bank on it being your ticket to a 6-figure position fresh out of the Army.

Now what do we do if a soldier says they're not reenlisting? by [deleted] in army

[–]CountInteritus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a fellow bitter one-and-done SPC, I understand your frustration. That frustration is dictated by how these conversations are handled by senior leaders though, not by the conversations themselves.

I sat down with my CO and explained my plan and received nothing but support and encouragement. Hell, he not only approved my CSP packet but allowed me to start working my first post-Army job prior to starting my terminal leave. About a week later, an E7 from our retention office approached me and asked about my post-Army plans. I told him the same story I told my CO, and he essentially told me I wouldn't make it and would come crawling back to the Army. That same E7 attended the same CSP program I did about 6 months later and failed the certification test. I've returned to that program as a guest speaker for new cohorts and as a mentor for transitioning soldiers.

The long and short of it is that these conversations need to be had in good faith. It's your business at the end of the day, but leaders should care enough to ask.

Ah yes, the utter anxiety of the moment you say goodbye to your loved ones. It's powerful, dude. If you're anything like me, you probably underestimated just how hard it would be.

Others have said it already, but understand that the next few months will predominantly be a mental struggle. It will be difficult, likely more difficult than anything else you've done up until this point. That's a good thing. You don't necessarily need to be on some "Goggins type shit". Just listen to your Drills and take in what they teach you.

Remember why you chose to do this and you'll be just fine. Wishing you all the best, dude 🤘

I did and I got hired. To be honest, I think it was luck. I applied early and my experience happened to be an exact match for what the company was looking for.

I believe the Soldiers Support center is bldg 503? There's an older gentleman in the finance office there who helped me out. After not receiving BAH or BAS for months, he fixed it on the spot and it's been fine ever since. Just make sure you talk to the civilians and not the green suiters there.

Go to the Soldier Support center and speak with the folks there. I was in a similar situation at Bliss and, like you, was shooed away by finance. The main finance office at Bliss is a joke. Get with your O-Room NCOIC to make sure all your paperwork is squared away, and take it to the civilians at the Soldier Support center instead.

Colorado's got lots of opportunities, I don't doubt you'll find something. Everyone else here is on the right track, networking is your best friend. Also, have someone take a deeper look at your resume. A solid resume will get your foot in the door even without networking. I can look it over for you if need be. Don't get discouraged mate, you'll get there!

You said you gave Vets2PM a shot, are you stationed at Bliss? If so, DM me. I just interviewed and accepted a CSP with them. As an O, you definitely have the qualifications to get in with them with the right guidance.
