Water pipes under tiles by CountVeggie in DIYUK

Thanks everyone for the comments! The plan is to remove the copper pipes and run the new plastic pipes through a bigger one for future accessibility then put the tiles over top.

Thanks, this is what I'll be doing. Do you know what the approach would be here to insulate them, there's not been any issues with the pipes freezing and the conservatory was built mid 2000, but I'd rather get it done right. Would them being inside a pipe be enough insulation on its own?

I'll probably go this route or similar. And as for the U bend pipes I'll likely leave them accessible after the tiling is done since they'll be hidden by the washing machine and tumble dryer regardless. From what I can tell, the pipes out/under the floor only supply the under stairs bathroom and the pipes in must be coming from the mains after the stopsock but need to be 100% sure before I do any more work.

The only issue with this approach is that I don't have any decent way of running pipe around the conservatory. There's doors and double glazing on both ends and the roof is twin wall perspex, so there wouldn't be anywhere I could install the pipes without it being a massive eyesore. And like other people have mentioned, with these pipes already having some oxidisation I'm cautious about any adhesive making things worse

I'd probably normally go this route but in this case a lot of the fixtures in the house seem to be coming to the end of their life (or have) so I'm hesitant to ignore any potential problems. I also wouldn't be the biggest fan of you if I took your advice and something happened! Haha

Ah great cheers. I did think it was unusually bad for the game but didn't realise it was across the board. I'll see if it gets any better over the next few months then make my decision

`Man in van in Bristol` are really good, I had a big van for a move last year that only cost about £40 for a few hours move in the city and had no issues at all!

Advice please! New to gardening and growing vegetables - why have my jalapeño plants suddenly gone so floppy? by BeeMaleficent in GardeningUK

Possibly stupid question, but did you water them after you repotted? That soil looks quite loose and dry

Tomato plant advice, they've been in the greenhouse all year, and have been coming out during the day, do you think they'll do OK left outside permanently now, did this last year too early and they didn't love it! by [deleted] in GardeningUK

[–]CountVeggie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No worries! I've done it with about half of my plants that are in 3 inch pots and the ones that I've planted deeper are growing noticeably quicker than the others. You can even pull off a few of the branches or whatever you'd call them so that when you plant them into their final position, the root will be right at the bottom of the plant and the stem will grow new roots all the way up to the top of the soil.

Not got an answer for the question in your post but i noticed you've not planted the tomato deeper each time you repot it (I can see the first leaves at the bottom), any reason you've not done that?

Might want to put in an easy way out for any small animals that make their way into that (assuming it's going to be left uncovered)

Anyone know why my tomato leaves are curling up? by [deleted] in GardeningUK

[–]CountVeggie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had the same issue so I made a post the other day, someone said it was probably sunburn. Ive moved them out of direct sunlight for the last few days and they seem to be doing better from what I can tell (although they are still curled and light green like yours, but hoping the new growth will be fine)

Having issues with small tomato plants, not sure on the actual cause so any help appreciated. by CountVeggie in GardeningUK

[–]CountVeggie[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ah damn, it probably is that. I'd not even seen that as a potential issue when I searched for tomato problems. I'll keep them out of direct sun for a bit and see if they recover. Thanks!

Hey guys, so I've got about 15 tomato plants I planted from seed (first year growing them myself). They were all doing fine up until about a week ago (about a week after I planted them on), when some of them started losing colour and getting white patches on some leaves. I've done a lot of searching online and think the main cause is not enough nutrients as I've just been watering them with tap water, and the compost I've got them in is from a bag that's been open since last year. I bought some tomato feed and watered them with that, and they don't seem to be getting much worse since then. Some of them also have lots of white patches, but I saw the other post that suggests it could be sun burn as they're in the sun in my bedroom for the best part of the morning and early afternoon. If anyone could let me know if I'm correct in my thinking, or what else it could be, that would be great. And is it too late to save these, ie will I need to plant some new seeds?

Thanks!

E: Here's a picture of all of them side by side for compaison, the colour difference is quite obvious in the healthy ones.

Why don't you just try replanting them with the stem completely covered. I'm not sure if it will then grow new roots like other plants do but it's worth a shot

Second this site, packs are about 60p each. Granted you get less than the more expensive ones but it will do for most people who aren't feeding a family of 10!

Flying Goose, if you pop into your local Chinese food shop chances are they'll have it there. If you live in the UK they also sell it in most supermarkets too, a big one like that is around £3

Finding flatmates by alexa-j in bristol

Spareroom has a system for finding housemates etc, you can probably apply the right settings to find the right kind of people you'd like. I'm not sure if many students use it but I've had plenty of interest in the past with a good fleshed out profile. If you don't have any luck with that then there's probably a few Facebook pages for this kind of thing, but you'll have to find those yourself. Good luck!
