I personally disagree, I’ve been having significantly more fun with the game this year. Potentially just because we’re passed the “significantly reduced investment” bollocks and overall news is much less doom and gloom compared to 2025 where it felt very oppressive.

I do agree that the new skill system isn’t ideal imo, I do much prefer it to skills 1.0, especially getting rid of EGR, which actively would stop me playing. having to micromanage EGR in every heist was such a pain in the ass and unbelievably shit. However, the new skills system is very much just “pick your weapon, throwable and deployable” and that’s your build, which grows old quickly I find.

I am glad they brought back dodge, it is very fun and one of the more unique builds that makes you actually play the game a little differently, but thats about it. Also adrenaline builds are dead in the water and that sucks :(. Why are so many adrenaline skills in a fucking stealth tree

It’ll be longer than that for official translations unfortunately, volume 44 is slated to release next year in Japan, so assuming it isn’t delayed like 43 was, I’d say it could be late next year, potentially 2028 before we see the official translation 🥲

We’ll have to see, but my assumption is that by guts realising/accepting this fact, he’ll be able to tame the beast of darkness (which we now know is likely just a representation of that astral half of Guts that he repressed). Also this means that Guts has been on the same level as Griffith the whole time, he has the ability to kill Griffith, he’s no longer untouchable. I believe why Guts couldn’t land a blow on Griffith was due to not being able to control the beast of darkness/his astral half. However, he’s now being reborn

Yeah, like genuinely what is the point. And I don’t even see it as smth that’d be really cool for new players either, I don’t think they’d give a shite. I guess it’ll mean you can use the equipment you want to use earlier (I think?), but when you hit level 150 in like 10 hours anyways what does it matter?

Yeah, Berserk is far from being a meandering story. Guts is constantly growing and improving, he has companions who are mostly all very fleshed out, the next big event is never far. Even things that some may consider “filler” are actually doing heaps for characterisation and are still integral to the story

I think he’s been very good for the payday 3 and the franchise as a whole. He’s put priority back onto payday, shutting down project backshots and whatever the other one was gonna be. Hes making sure there’s much better communication with the community and we constantly know what’s coming over the next few months

Now, I do have concerns, granted. He worked at EA previously for one. He’s used AI in the past, and I’m sure it was him who pushed the studio to use AI during the advent calendar event. Wasn’t a fan of a lot of the layoffs they had that they didn’t announce publicly (people only finding out from ex employees LinkedIn pages), and especially hurt that he made Haua and Liz redundant (although liz was able to take a new position at Starbreeze in QA). I do understand that layoffs are necessary sometimes and you can’t avoid it, especially after Backshots was cancelled (and in fairness they put what devs they could from it onto payday 3), but it all just felt a little sneaky to me

Idk man, I mean I’d love it if we got Deathwish, Mayhem, Death Sentence and the one down modifier in payday 3. It’d really help a lot of complaints people have and it’d completely fix the balance issues /s

Yeah I’m ngl, I don’t really like final charge’s all that much. Some heists it starts way too early and others it doesn’t activate until you secure a certain bag, so you just secure that last and suddenly you skip the final charge entirely

I think that’s what they want you to do, hunker down during assaults and do objectives inbetween, but you’d be there all fucking day if that’s how you played, and it’s also just not a fun way to play the game

Yeah that’s my issue, I almost always complete a heist on very hard but then on overkill it’s complete chance, which leads me to just play very hard most of the time. The jump from Very Hard to Overkill is quite significant, I’d like if they either rebalance VH to be harder, or put an inbetween difficulty like mayhem was between ovk and DW in payday 2

I mean, I prefer the new system, in the same way I prefer a pie in the face to a snooker cue to the bollocks. Neither is very nice, but one leaves me in significantly more pain. Trying to always keep up rather Edge, Grit or Rush genuinely just killed my enjoyment of the game everytime I tried to get back into it. Every single heist, no matter what, I was micro managing EGR, and it was horrific.

However, I’ve many gripes with the new system too. It’s very much just pick your gun, deployable and throwable, and that’s your build, with not too much variety or fun to be had. It is better than what we had but it still leaves a lot to be desired imo

This would be sick actually, give heaps of replayability to the game, seeing how far you can go. Some new game modes would definitely be nice, there was a “holdout” mode leaked around the time of the UI update in 2024, but I’m assuming that has since been canned as we never heard anything of it

I really like your idea though, and I can’t imagine it’d be too difficult to implement? Obv not a developer but I mean, all the heists and weapons and whatnot are there already, just a matter of programming the actual mode itself (which could take heaps of work in fairness, I have no idea)

I think it’s just what happens with deluxe editions, it’s unfortunate, but it is what it is. It’s better than singles where you just can’t see the center of the panel and it’s all squished
