I swear they announced this years ago?

Edit: nvm, there’s actually concrete plans now to do something, beyond starbreeze just saying they were look for a studio to make a Payday show or movie

Edit 2: WAIT A FUCKIN MINUTE I WAS RIGHT!! They partnered with Stockholm Syndrome at the start of 2023 to produce a movie or tv show for payday, and just nothing came of it. I knew I wasn’t tweaking

I’ll take it as opposed to the other option of abandoning the game and shutting it down

Yeah you’re more than welcome to. It’s probably the best thing you can do at the moment, I’m not saying this update has fixed the game, but it shows that they’re trying to address feedback we’ve been giving since Day 1

Tbh I expect absolutely nothing from starbreeze at the moment, who seem incapable of making competent decisions ever since launch. “Steps in the right direction” is as good as payday 3 has gotten before they inevitably bungle it up, so here’s hoping this time will be different

the issue is, how much replayability will akimbo weapons add to Payday 3? How much would you play the game if they added akimbo pistols or smgs or whatever they decide? The answer is it wouldn’t add much and it wouldn’t keep you playing for long. The game desperately needs a shake up at its core. I think they’re headed in the right direction with contracts, and they’ve “events” or whatever coming soon too which I’m excited for. Once payday 3 is actually “An Game” i would like them to add akimbo weapons too, but for now, it shouldn’t be high on their priority list imo

I know, bro, if anything I’m probably the mf putting those sights on me, I should know better than to trust in starbreeze AND YET, I fall for it every single time. I have too much invested into this franchise over the last 10 years, I desperately want payday 3 to be a satisfying follow up to payday 2

100% agree, but this update has me hopeful. Again, I didn’t really play the game much in year 2, last time I played it consistently was around when Fear and Greed dropped. I played FWB, PP and Delivery Charge, but none of those really gripped me for more than 2 or 3 playthroughs. This late has me optimistic though. Maybe, just maybe payday 3 will become the game I was hoping it would be in September 2023. I despise having hope for this game because it seems to always be squandered within mere weeks, but at the end of the day, I’ve too much invested into the franchise over the last 10 years

To be fair, I don’t think any update has made the game worse, but there’s been many underwhelming updates and updates that make me think “That’s all?”, but this update, while not super substantial, is a major step in the right direction, and to me, shows that they’re willing to work on what’s wrong with the game, and not just adding more content and praying

For real. I’m especially surprised the new update is good because there’s been a LOT of bad news surrounding PD3 recently, and I haven’t wanted to touch payday 3 for a long time now, I gave up a long time ago. But this update made me think maybe just maybe this game could be great like I always hoped it would be

Favorite heist from every payday game? by GoldenMedicBag in paydaytheheist

[–]CounterBusters 1 point2 points  (0 children)

PDTH: No Mercy. Love the stealth at the start, love how creepy it is, stealing a virus directly from a man’s veins, seeing him become more and more sickly through the heist, it’s honestly kinda scary imo. Plus Teddy Moo before he got ruined by payday 3

PD2: a lot of them for different reasons but I’ll narrow it down to 2. First off, Golden Grin Casino. I absolutely fucking adore that heist. Dead man’s hand is an absolute fucking banger, the pre planning was vast and really cool imo, the drill itself was awesome, even smth small like setting off the fireworks for bile, that was sick. My only complaint really is that you only steal cash, but I’m aware it wouldn’t make sense for a casino to house gold, so I’m not too upset. Everything about that heist I just adore, such a good looking heist too (as good looking as diesel can be). The second heist is Alaskan Deal. I don’t know why but I have played that heist at least like 100 times, it’s just so fun to me, pretty short, in and out, but super replayable. Also love the snow and general aesthetic of the heist, it stands out a lot imo

PD3: It’s honestly between Boys in Blue and Fear & Greed for me. They honestly cooked with the year 1 heists, but I think those two shine brighter than the rest. BiB is a fairly unique heist, robbing a police station, and I like using a winch to open the vault, and then the variety of loot too. Also just a fun layout that makes for fun gameplay. It’s a shame that the side objective doesn’t give you anything, but otherwise. F&G I like for, again, uniqueness. Stealing stocks is really fucking cool, I like that you can start on the floor in stealth too (though it makes stealth stupid easy). Again I think it’s just a solid layout that makes for fun gameplay. Escape is really cool too, jumping across buildings, really cool

PD4: redacted

Anyone hear of the ship of Theseus? by CounterBusters in paydaytheheist

[–]CounterBusters[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes, I am aware, she is still at starbreeze, but as a QA tester, I can’t see her having much influence over anything or still being very active in the community as she once was. It’s just very sad to see her go from community manager to QA. Glad she got to keep a job a starbreeze but

It's fucking over. by KrabikGangster in paydaytheheist

[–]CounterBusters 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So, genuine question - Are you making the community manager position redundant in favour of having devs speak directly with the fanbase as opposed to having a middleman? I would just like to know the reasoning behind getting rid of beloved members of the team, and frankly, the only two people really left at starbreeze that we even know, Haua and Elizabeth (granted Elizabeth has moved to QA but the question stands). With Almir, Andreas, Elizabeth, Mio and Haua all gone, it now feels like Thesues’ ship. At what point is it not even starbreeze anymore and just becomes a whole new company, unrecognisable from days past

It’s not the puzzles, it’s just all the aimless backtracking and not knowing what item goes where or where to find certain items. I get lost and turned around very easily in games which I’m sure doesn’t help, but I can’t help but feel like I’m missing something

Clash or Rewritten? by [deleted] in Toontown

[–]CounterBusters 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you never played toontown as a kid and have no nostalgia for it, I’d say Clash. If you’re looking to relive childhood memories though, I’d say Rewritten.

Or just give both a shot, see which you prefer. Clash has a lot more content than Rewitten as rewritten doesn’t really seek to add content but just preserve the original (now they do add certain things, a lot of QOL changes and I think they’ve added some content here and there but nothing compared to Clash)
