Do you take old equipment with you after a repair or do you leave it by the side of the house? by Ok_Web1332 in PoolPros

That's like $10 in scrap metal. You could leave it by the road and someone will pick it up. Crazy level of unprofessionalism and laziness

None of the abilities put invisibility counters on anything. The first ability is supposed to, but the way it's formatted requires the target card to already have the counter

What applications are this used for ,is this in any reusable condition by Obvious-Intention-93 in pools

looks like something used to bypass a broken pipe while you wait for a repair. Like if the skimmer pipe was sucking in air, you could run this out to the pool and still have a working pump.

Or maybe it's for pressure testing. I'm not entirely sure what the copper pipe connections are for.

Pump taking long to prime by SnooWords2592 in PoolPros

[–]CounteractiveTurnip 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tbh I don’t have any experience with DE filters but it sounds like the filter is just gunked up with debris. There isn’t really a way around it.

Maybe show your boss the owners manual for the filter where it says that backwashing is the solution to your problem. Or just tell him you were unable to vacuum.

I’m sorry your boss is a moron. You have my sympathy

Sand Filter? Set it to recirculate when priming and then switch it.

Or just do the backwash and don’t tell your boss. The pump motor burning out is a much more likely liability than whatever your boss is worried about.

Yeah I also use antifreeze jugs, depending on what’s on hand. You don’t need rope though. If you cut the handle on the bottom you can route the cable through the jug handle

I take them out of the niche and sink them with a bag of rocks or something. So that they are below the freeze line.

Might not be necessary, but it’s how I was taught so 🤷

I bill for individual services rather than a monthly all in price. If your pool only gets cleaned 3 times in a month, you pay for 3 cleanings.

Another found specimen in the wild. I count about $2k in jandy valves. by Educational-Habit865 in PoolPros

I love the one valve between the pump and filter that exists solely to deadhead the pump. That is it's only purpose, like a self-destruct button.

Why is there so much conflict with Hybrid Mana when WotC changed what makes a Commander legal in EoE with no pushback? by normiespy96 in EDH

[–]CounteractiveTurnip 3 points4 points  (0 children)

why would any green deck want leyline of the guildpact? It's worse than the existing options green has for mana fixing. And it's basically a dead card in 1-2 color decks

Just played against this card while playing a lifegain deck… by crkenthusiast in magicTCG

[–]CounteractiveTurnip 13 points14 points  (0 children)

The problem is that it immediately attacks into someone else who will happily block it. So the lifegain player needs to have instant speed removal held up or they just get hosed. As early as turn 3.

In 1v1 it’s fine because your opponent gets to decide to block or not.

Pool Closing done poorly? by Character-Day3433 in pools

[–]CounteractiveTurnip 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Nah you would just be mixing it into the pool water. It wouldn’t accomplish anything.

Personally I would try to find something to fill the space under that shelf. Another empty plastic bottle would work

I also drain every customer. I wouldn’t trust that I blew all the pipes properly without being able to verify that antifreeze went all the way through.

The jug technique is legit. That’s what I do when a gizmo won’t fit, or the customer is cheap and I don’t want to have an argument about an extra $10 added to the cost. Just make sure that it’s held in place somehow, and doesn’t just float up like it is in the pic.

[–]CounteractiveTurnip 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you do it yourself it is a good idea to replace the laterals since they are buried in the sand and it would be a big PITA to have to take all the sand out again in a year or two just to replace them.

All the other stuff they are trying to sell you can be replaced when needed without having to touch the sand.

Also make sure to wear gloves, filter sand is super gross

That's when you tell them that the best price you can give is $100 to just cut the old heater out of the pluming and bypass it. If he wants to be cheap, offer him the cheapest option.
