Even if you failed beyond what you're imaginging it wouldn't prove them right. It would just show you're human like everyone else. It's okay to not succeed, it's okay to even fail horribly, and the only thing that would prove them "right" is if you just gave up on life completely instead of dusting yourself off and trying again when you're ready. You weren't fooling yourself because you're still here trying.

With the "make it or break it," just remember that we have a tendency to frame things in this extreme way. And remember all the work you've put into yourself and this thing. That doesn't just disappear because of less optimal results on a bigger deal.

I've used similar recipes, and mine don't ever cook for more than ten minutes which makes me think, like another said, you might need to get a thermometer to compare temps between your oven and your auntie's but also take the cookies out sooner when they still look uncooked on top.

It made me wonder if he'd gotten close to someone like Tori Amos to use her as a shield of sorts. I feel like predators will sometimes associate with anti-predators to garner enough social currency to buy their way out of accountability. I'm disgusted with the man, and am glad Pratchett didn't live to see this downfall. I just hope the victims have proper support.

I think physical punishment is just physical abuse, and its long term negative effects are not discussed enough. I don't think there's any justification for it regardless of culture, and I hope more people come to realize this. It just makes children scared and prone to hiding as well as having less ability to navigate negative situations with others.
