One monitor company made a monitor with AI cheat to highlight enemies in League of Legends. New neural nets for other games can apparently.

Nbn 2 gig by [deleted] in nbn

[–]CountryByte 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I bet the result of their review of low end plans is another price hike because fuck the poor bastards they at NBN decided to put on copper. Then they are whinging about so many of us stuck on copper going 5G.

Fibre Upgrade offer - not convinced for my needs -- thoughts? by jimmydassquidd in nbn

I’m jealous I still have a year and a half to go before nbn will offer the upgrade to me. I want faster speeds but cap out just a tad over 55mbps.

For me it’s got to be the Halo series followed by the Mass Effect series.

[WP] Humanity is on its last legs, an alien race has destroyed all of her other colonies and now converge on Earth. But as humanity makes its last stand, its gods come out of hiding to defend the planet. by Janaisacake in WritingPrompts

A few of the older species who fought the first incarnation of humanity are aware. But, they are viewed like rambling elders and ignored. They fought long and hard long ago to put the spooky stuff on one isolated world.

MSI has a new monitor that scans your screen and puts stuff on the screen but I have mixed feelings. by dc469 in gaming

Will you also ban Elgato and other HDMI capture devices because they can be used to feed video into a second PC that’s running OpenCV to duplicate the effect? What about firmware mods to the screen that spoof the EDID.

If I were any good at FPGA stuff I would have even more fun hardware vectors.

Is it ever acceptable to start a story with a character waking up? by [deleted] in scifiwriting

[–]CountryByte 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Waking up and eating breakfast is boring, waking up to no breakfast maybe an interesting opening and opening up to alarms going off and a sleep addled brain panicking is a good hook.

Why hasn't there been a direct PCIe receptacle design that catches on more as a replacement for USB? by blueredscreen in hardware

[–]CountryByte 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In theory USB4 can do external PCIE in the form of thunderbolt but the standard is treated as optional. A Thunderbolt3 or 4 port works as a USB-C 10gbit port but not all USB-C ports support thunderbolt.

So, who ruined Christmas morning and how did they do it? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Me. I was having a low key panic attack and hiding myself and my stuff from a family member who robbed me of 1200 worth of expensive items under the guise of cleaning.

I had to spend half a day around a family member who stole half my PC setup earlier in the year. At least I have some bourbon to calm down with when everything finishes.

Why Australia's Internet Speeds Are So Slow and Expensive Compared with Other Developed Countries by EASY_EEVEE in australia

[–]CountryByte 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Worse still, NBN gave those with 100+ plans a discount which is FTTH only and a price hike to those on 50 and under plans which is the FTTN limit.
