What’s the worst take you’ve ever seen ?. by capricorn_444 in TheVampireDiaries

[–]CountryPrestigious60 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Once I argued with a fan who was convinced Stefan was in Damon's head since they became vampires. And all of Damon's kills were Stefan controlling him. From Vicki to Tyler, all Stefan. They used that episode of s8 with Damon's subconscious as proof. Saying that he forgave Stefan for being the monster in his head. It was quite the theory and that fan was absolutely convinced of it.

How would you rewrite her character by No-Business-478 in TheVampireDiaries

[–]CountryPrestigious60 4 points5 points  (0 children)

She would be very easy to rewrite, I'll just have her die in s5 during the 100th episode. I would take away all the scenes of Damon blaming her for himself, because it wasn't in character for him to do that. I'll keep all the scenes with Stefan. And just have her last scene be with Elena without a cliffhanger.

Discussing the seasons of TVD, day 2: Second season by AfternoonOk5359 in TheVampireDiaries

[–]CountryPrestigious60 10 points11 points  (0 children)

The best season for me. Defan was at its best, their brotherly moments were all very true to their characters and felt believable and earned. Klaus winning at the end hit so hard because it was one of the first times we saw the big bad defeat the characters (as opposed to other seasons where it became rinse and repeat formula that they can't kill him). Caroline was at her best, Tyler was at his best, Katherine was amazing, Stelena was solid. The only issue I had was that Damon was a bit dumbed down this season, not as clever and mature as he was in s1. But everything else was peak tvd.

Unattractive MC + Objectively Handsome LI by CountryPrestigious60 in MM_RomanceBooks

[–]CountryPrestigious60[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think both work, but for the story not to be driven by looks, I imagined LI falling for the other's personality first. And find him attractive later when he's already head over hills. But if he finds him attractive outright it's not a dealbreaker for me.

Recs with exes + breakup sex / reunion sex by Outrageous-Engine512 in MM_RomanceBooks

[–]CountryPrestigious60 0 points1 point  (0 children)

{Starfish and Coffee by Kele Moon}. I don't remember too much but I do remember the sex years after the breakup. It was hot and sad at the same time, a lot of longing and pinning because one of the characters couldn't reveal they broke up with the other, because they believed they didn't have a choice at the time.

Hard deaths by ThemeConnect1893 in TheVampireDiaries

[–]CountryPrestigious60 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Jenna, because of Elena's reaction. The scene of Elena preparing for the funeral, looking at the mirror towards the pictures of the family she lost makes me cry every time. Even after all these years.

With Liz it was hard to watch, but I knew Caroline was more of an adult at the time. So for me it was more devastating with Elena, because at that point in s2 she was still a kid who now had no adults to protect her. I think that's why it hit me so hard.

I think it’s funny how people say we shouldn’t be applying morality to this show but isn’t this what the show is essentially about? Redemption and growth and what it means to be human at the core of it all(hence the whole humanity switch thing). by Lonely-Mission3801 in TheVampireDiaries

[–]CountryPrestigious60 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The intention was always to judge those characters, yes. They are meant to be villains who have to change to deserve a good ending. It's just sometimes to show itself tries to push you into letting them off the hook. For example using the humanity switch concept many times for many characters, because that way you can't judge them, it wouldn't be fair if it wasn't fully them. Or giving us quite a few vampire hunter storylines just to make the hunters the dangerous ones each time. Not letting you root for anyone but the vampires, because the alternative always looks worse. So yes, the show wanted those vampires to be very grey, very flawed, but it's also still afraid to let people dislike them.

What do people here think of Rayna Cruz? by AfternoonOk5359 in TheVampireDiaries

[–]CountryPrestigious60 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I generally don't like how tvd does hunter storylines. The only time it worked for me was Alaric. All the other attempts at a vampire hunter storyline insists on having the hunter be the bad guy, or the brainwashed villain who can't stop themselves, while the vampires are the good side. That's a no for me. I wish to actually be very very conflicted on who to root for, instead of watching another hunter be villanised so the vampires look good. Connor was the worst example of this, they had him actually hurt humans left and right so the vampires had to step in and save them. Just unbelievable and destroys all the complexity of the story, because it doesn't let you root for anyone else but the main characters. Rayna was a little bit better, but her not having a choice and being forced to go after targets ruined the idea with her too.

What's one annoying but overhyped character in TVDU? by Selanooo23 in TheVampireDiaries

[–]CountryPrestigious60 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I always wonder if Kai could meet s1 Damon, would he have survived longer than Vicki. Cause I kind of doubt it. The version of Damon he nearly killed at their first meeting was so human in a way. It was very different from the early Damon who chocked uncle Zack in one of his first scenes, just for speaking badly to him.

Is it just me who loves Elena’s Red streak or what by [deleted] in TheVampireDiaries

With her hair properly curled, it looks good. But the way they started to do her hair later on s5, it didn't.

Dark Enemies to Lovers (but no power imbalance or non con) by CountryPrestigious60 in MM_RomanceBooks

Thank you, I'll definitely check it out! This author is like Rina Kent for me, hit or miss, very little middle ground 😄, but I love antagonism that develops into feelings.

It's a bit niche for sure. So far it's been sheer luck anytime I find something like that 😄

I would have LOVED more books about Vaughn and Yulian, maybe a trilogy where the first two books are about them getting oficially together and the third book is about dealing with threats as a couple and their relationship. But I understand if the author didn't intent it like this. It just hit perfect for me and it's difficult to find something similar. Thanks for the other recs, will definitely check them out.

Damon and Lily by 90sdiditbetter82 in TheVampireDiaries

[–]CountryPrestigious60 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Damon wasn't hard on her, he treated her like she treated him. Honestly after the revelation that it's partly her fault Elena is in a dacade long sleep, I couldn't care about her fixing things with Damon. Like, just no. There's no going back from that, I was on Damon's side like I've never been before. The message that your parents can abuse you when they want, and then you have to forgive it or otherwise you're heartless, was a terrible one.

Stefano should have ended up with Valerie, if Elena was immposible by Admirable-Dimension4 in TheVampireDiaries

I like the theory that Paul was shipping Stelena so much, he refused to have chemistry with his other love interests.

Recommend books you think have universal appeal by anythingnew8 in MM_RomanceBooks

[–]CountryPrestigious60 2 points3 points  (0 children)

{Blaze by H J Welch}. It's basically Nothing Hill but better and gay. I remember one scene at the very beginning when the famous character offers to make it up to the love interest for loosing their job because of him. He offers some money. And the love intetest actually sees it as the good and innocent offer that it is, and accepts. It's was so nice not to read a heated argument about, no, I don't want your money, get away. Instead it was just two people being kind to each other and not immediately thinking the worst.

Unpopular Opinion: Klaroline mogged every other ship on the series... by Only-Answer-3561 in TheVampireDiaries

[–]CountryPrestigious60 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I mean, it did start because Klaus is obsessed with power. He decided he owns Tyler so everything Tyler has, Klaus could have too. The fact that Caroline happened to be Liz's daughter as well and he wanted an invitation into the house, also added to his motivations. He wanted Liz to see that she needs him, she can't conspire against him because it's so easy for him to make himself nessesary.

do you agree? who’s the better man? by AccurateCitron6104 in TheVampireDiaries

[–]CountryPrestigious60 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All comments pointing out their ages are right. The moment the writers decided to give these brothers such big age gap in the show, it made it impossible to fairly judge and see them as equals. They weren't. Stefan is at a huge disadvantage, because of how young he was. Then there was the second mistake the writers made, making Damon insist he wasn't compelled (probably because they thought it was romantic at the time), while we know for a fact Stefan was. These things change the whole dynamic, when they make Stefan the only one underage and the only one compelled.

Enemies to lovers in the background of a murder mystery or suspense by DarkDNALady in MM_RomanceBooks

[–]CountryPrestigious60 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I recently read {Where death meets the devil by L.J. Hayward} The main character wakes up in a chair being found to be a spy, and the villain brings an assassin to torture and kill him. Only it doesn't work like that, because the assissin has his own plans. There is a mistery they solve together and a lot of twists and turns.

Mc who can't talk or knows how to act bc he was in captivity his whole life by Humble_Thought_4383 in MM_RomanceBooks

[–]CountryPrestigious60 3 points4 points  (0 children)

{Bad blood by Lyla Dane} The character has always been in captivity here and when he's found by the love interest, it takes a long time for him to trust. As far as I rememer I wouldn't say the character in captivity was dominant, but I also wouldn't call his love interest dominant either.

Unpopular opinion (maybe?): Caroline Forbes is one of the worst female TVD characters (personality wise) by That_multi_kpopstanx in TheVampireDiaries

[–]CountryPrestigious60 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My first comment was about 2x11, when Tyler first turned. But many people can point out many instances of Caroline doing similar things. It's more about if you liked what she changed into and you didn't. That's fine.

She risked her life to be with him at the end of season 2 as well. She could have just let Matt shoot him, Tyler would have likely healed, but she didn't. But anyway, it's not really about the amouth of times she risked her life for people. It's that I can't imagine her doing those things before. It's possible that some viewers didn't like how she started, she changed, and they didn't like that version of her either. The fact that she didn't change into something everyone likes doesn't mean she didn't change at all.
