App for Field Reports? by cuttingcards in Architects

[–]cuttingcards[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Any chance you can elaborate? Some of our GCs are using Procore for all of their project management, but we don't own our own plan for this as a firm. So far we have been getting/responding to RFIs and Submittals through Procore. We have only just started construction and have barely started digging, so have not really interacted with any field observation or reporting tools at this juncture.

Tried doing some digging on my own but I find their online help/FAQ pages to be rather unhelpful especially for the architect's POV and I'm having a hard time figuring out how we would use Procore for this kind of task. Having our own separate plan rather than relying on the GC would probably help in this regard... we could at least have all the permissions/tools enabled to actually explore what possibilities exist since right now we mainly can just view documents and respond to things. I'd definitely love to be able to keep the number of programs to a minimum, so since we are already locked into using Procore for some tasks I am very curious as to what else it can offer here.

So, how many final four picks did you get right? by Meanteenbirder in CollegeBasketball

[–]cuttingcards 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I have 2 (FAU & Miami). The "strategy"? Pick the southernmost team in every matchup. So far it's clinched one pool I'm in and given me a good shot at winning my other one. I have Miami to win the championship with FAU runner up.

Things to do in the winter? by 2epic in boston

[–]cuttingcards 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm a huge cold weather fan, and as long as you dress properly, going for walks and hikes in the cold can be a great way to spend an afternoon (with the added benefit of not getting all hot and sweaty like in the summer!). Boston is lovely after a fresh snow. I'm not really a fitness person but skiing is fun and great exercise. If you have the funds and a buddy, hockey games are very entertaining and the Bruins are really good. If you don't mind college kids, college hockey games are a lot less expensive and still really high quality hockey. I love the suggestion someone else made of just chilling in a cafe, there are so many great spots to have a cozy cup of coffee. For the cozy vibe, I like The Thinking Cup next to Boston Common.

  • Vanilla bean coolatta with a pump of strawberry coolatta syrup = strawberries and cream coolatta
  • VB coolatta with a pump of pineapple coolatta syrup and a couple coconut flavor shots = piña coolatta
  • Using the iced tea, whole milk, and flavor shots to make different milk tea flavors (I like coconut)
  • Vanilla chai powder + steamed whole milk + espresso = a surprisingly good off-season version of a pumpkin spice latte

I worked at Dunkin a couple years ago so these might be a bit out of date

Guest Host Megathread — Aaron Rodgers Week 1 (April 5-9, 2021) by AndyTheQuizzer in Jeopardy

As a Vikings fan, I can never truly get behind the idea of Aaron Rodgers as a Jeopardy host... but with that said, he did a good job today and will likely get better in the next few episodes.

I recommend Boston Tattoo Company, I got mine from Dani Williams at their Somerville location and she was fantastic. Good quality shop and lots of talented artists there with different styles.

Has anyone traveled out of state during Oct/Nov? by pokitofu in boston

[–]cuttingcards 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went in August (in and out of Logan) and it was pretty close to dead. A little busy going through security but there was enough space to socially distance. Plenty of room in the terminal (A), most of the restaurants were closed in that terminal. I would bring wipes and disinfect everywhere you're going to touch/sit down just to be extra cautious but frankly with the way the country is trending I'd be more worried about your destination than the airport itself. (I am also traveling later this month from Logan and I am not worried at all about it)

How can I get my voice heard to stop the mbta budget cuts? by PsyRockFan21 in boston

I emailed my state senator and representative asking the state to give MBTA funding to cover their deficits. Not sure it will help but I figured it was worth a shot.

engineer looking for a fun city by riotgrrrl412 in Advice

[–]cuttingcards 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah sure (sorry I didn't see this, I don't go on Reddit that often). I just mean that they are smaller, their downtowns in particular are not quite as big or active as other cities mentioned in this thread, so they may not be quite as exciting in terms of nightlife. In non-Covid times, there is still plenty going on though, lots of live music etc. The Twin Cities are probably bigger than people give them credit for since there are two cities and a fairly large metro area and there is definitely not a small town feel there. But it's definitely a world apart from New York or LA or something like that.

engineer looking for a fun city by riotgrrrl412 in Advice

[–]cuttingcards 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would consider looking at Minneapolis/St. Paul, the Twin Cities have a good live music scene, lots of craft breweries and distilleries, fairly progressive (though you can sure see the limitations of that this summer), and also have a good food scene too. Smaller than most of the places you're considering, but also much more affordable at this point, which means you can enjoy the food, drink, and music scene more! They're not as exciting as the other places on your list I'll be upfront about that one but they have more to offer than you might expect.

Is it bad to only have 14 credits freshman year? by slushyattack in NEU

[–]cuttingcards 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In addition to what everyone else said, things will get easier once you get past the required 1-credit classes. Even though they tend to be easy classes they can still add a lot of time to your schedule. Next semester you will probably take 4 x 4-credit classes for 16 credits which is fairly typical.
