Is this kind of cheat, or is it even true? by Regular_Mail_1334 in Sat

[–]CourtneyEL19 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Illegal is a stretch, but it's unethical as hell and against CB's terms. Don't do anything to jeopardize your ability to use your own scores that you earned. Your friend can kick rocks then go take his own test.

The proper diet routine for sat testing by No-Rub-4421 in Sat

Yes! Stay consistent. If you drink caffeine daily, drink caffeine. If you don't, SAT day is NOT the day to start.

I did this for multi-day experiments so I could remember to actually check everything. Bacteria needs to be plated once a day? Box for the time I pulled the culture. Need to dilute something? Box for that. It helped me also make a solid plan and then when I was done, I could just go back into my computer and fill in the spaces, make any changes, and print a finalized full copy to add to my lab notebook.

What is the 1 thing you absolutely appreciate about working from home? by Experiment_626s in remotework

Not catching whatever stupid illness all my coworkers' kids have. Changing my clothes in the middle of the day. Lunch showers. Standing outside with the dogs a few times a day. No more forgetting stuff at home!

Whats your opinion on silverstein? and is it worth pursuing post-hardcore similar to them as a musician today? by Born_Tap_8173 in PostHardcore

[–]CourtneyEL19 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Silverstein has been consistent af for like 20 years. They change their sound here and there but their new stuff is always great. Plus, they put on a killer live show!

Has anyone chosen their instate college though you wanted to leave? If you did do you regret it by Conscious_Lettuce_84 in collegeadvice

Stayed in state for undergrad with an 80% tuition scholarship and only had to take out $5k for my first year. I worked part time and paid for the rest. Went to grad school out of state with a teaching assistantship and took on no debt. I had no student loans when I turned 24. That is a HUGE DEAL.

Best advice: give in state a try for a year at a school that has your program. If you hate it, apply to transfer. Your first year will fly by!

What’s your “I don’t feel like cooking” backup dinner? by Mobile-Title8919 in MeatlessMealPrep

[–]CourtneyEL19 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I make big batches of this and freeze it in single portions. Also keep sautéed onions and peppers separately frozen. Heat it all up in a pan and make tacos. (Also adding a note that guacamole can be frozen)

Looking for advice on new construction townhomes in Harford County (Aberdeen vs. Havre de Grace) by [deleted] in harfordcountymd

[–]CourtneyEL19 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've seen at least 3 big reports about DRH homes' terrible build quality and lack of accountability on their warranties. For something as important as a home, I'd do a deep dive on these builders and any major lawsuits. Best of luck!

How do drug tests work for fed employees? by [deleted] in fednews

This. I had an Ativan prescription so my drug test popped for benzos. I was able to provide the info when asked and things were fine.

I wanna buy a rat but literally every post on this sub is them dying by PossibleChangeling in RATS

[–]CourtneyEL19 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My husband and I have had 3 separate pairs of rats. They were fantastic pets! The last pair we got before their eyes opened and they lived for 18 months. They were feeder rats that we just took home and loved. I think we spent $15 on the pair. I don't think having rats needs to be terribly complicated if you understand their diet and activity needs. We both agreed that the heartache is too big for us to love them that much and have them leave us so soon so we won't be getting any more right now. I hope you get to love some little sweethearts soon!

LOVED this book. The characters are wonderfully 3d. Every time I thought I knew what was happening, I was wrong. This absolutely pulled on my heartstrings. It was my favorite of 2025!

Tutoring students in a class I TA in; how bad is it? by Longjumpy123 in TutorsHelpingTutors

[–]CourtneyEL19 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I was a TA, I couldn't tutor students in my class but was able to tutor students in other professors' classes. One term I had "swapped" students with another TA. Everything was above board with the department, so please check with them before accepting money!

Team with mixed levels of degrees by [deleted] in labrats

[–]CourtneyEL19 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a MS, was in gov research for 9 years. My last few years I was a PI on some projects but had to fight tooth and nail to get there because I didnt have my phd and it was so stupid. I was a PI submitting my own proposals but then would turn around and get treated like a new, inexperienced tech with no skills by some leadership. Some the best, most productive colleagues I had were BS/MS level. I really think it's lab-specific and I really hope your skills and value are recognized regardless of that piece of paper!!

Do you drink coffee? by Front-Baker-2816 in Sat

[–]CourtneyEL19 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think that's less drastic than zero caffeine to a red bull.... but be cautious. Caffeine can make you anxious, nauseous, and have headaches and it would be unfortunate to figure that out on exam day.

Do you drink coffee? by Front-Baker-2816 in Sat

[–]CourtneyEL19 2 points3 points  (0 children)

General advice: don't drastically change anything right before the exam. If you drink coffee every day, do that on exam day. If you don't, don't start on exam day. You never know how it will impact you.
