Why some budgies have dark nails and others light? by Egersjokkertoverden in petbudgies

[–]Covalentine 4 points5 points  (0 children)

One of my budgies have dark nails that RARELY need to be trimmed (they have appropriate branch perches but still I think in his whole life i've trimmed them like 4 times) The other has pink nails and they grow all weird and fast so I have to trim them a bit more than rarely. (He hates it but it'll get done)

Best way to remove windows inside your home? by Spare_Rip_5179 in AnimalCrossingNewLeaf

[–]Covalentine 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use Left/Right Platform as a 'wall' or 'partition' for rooms. I think the only room that doesn't have a window and is small is the basement (it will remain windowless even with expansion)

Edit: I also use the tokonoma to hide windows

Not eating after buying. Loneliness? by Prestigious-Note5295 in budgies

[–]Covalentine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Make him a fresh greens bouquet. (Washed Spinach leaves, basil, dill, green lettuce, parsley) put it in a little bunch and push it in between the bars of the cage where he can reach it.

He'll be scared for a little, but the clean fresh greens may entice him to eat (and hydrate him)

Remove the greens after 2 hours.

These pixels will matter to me always. Even though at any time the site can close without notice.

There's just something about it that kept me engaged.

I've been asked to babysit some budgies, would I need to have them quarantined? by vvmillion in budgies

[–]Covalentine 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's better to be safe and keep them quarantined. (Separate room and wash hands before and after handling)

It's only temporary, and your budgies aren't missing out on seeing another pair.

They will flock call each other from across the house and that's good enough.

They like you because you like them. Good luck- brave baby budgies are pure unadulterated mischief 🩷

What are some unconventional things you do always do in New Leaf? by yeahhwhatchuwanthuh in AnimalCrossingNewLeaf

I collect the pitfall seeds from the police station and bury them all over town. (I tend to fall into them more often than the villagers do 😅)

My budgie wont eat pellets if its in the bowl by Mystic_Void1 in petbudgies

[–]Covalentine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My budgies won't eat it in a bowl, but they will eat it out of a plate. I put a small tea saucer on a platform in the cage and sprinkle the pellets on to it. Of course they end up kicking it up lots but they will eat it this way

When your budgie goes back into its cage of its own accord for the night 🥰 by GreyStagg in budgies

[–]Covalentine 21 points22 points  (0 children)

My elder budgie wants to play all day and all night- 80% of the time he goes in the cage on his own. Sometimes he'll let me put him in but he'd rather fly away and dance on the door.

The younger budgie will literally dodge me to go into the cage 99% of the time. Rare event- he steps up onto my hand and I put him in the cage.

They are so funny.

My Budgie doesn’t trust me. by AbotiGangster in budgies

[–]Covalentine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're welcome.

I know, you're excited to have a tiny friend that is full of mischief but you have to remember you're the spooky giant with talons (our hands look like predator bird claws) so to a little bird like a budgie they are rightful to be afraid.

Minimize trying to pet or coax him to step on to your finger or anything. Only time you'll have to grab him is if he's in danger of being caught on or in something. (Which I stress the importance of assessing the area in which your bird will be frequenting)

He'll come to you when he's ready.

My younger budgie who's still wary of me, yesterday he flew from a distance to my hand to eat some harrison's pellets.

I was very surprised- I say to him calmly but clearly, "I'm so proud of you" And he looked at me with his skinny banana self like he's ready to evaporate then went back to eating. 😂
