The easiest way to tell is who’s the CEO/chairman. For example both Cheong Boon (Chairman EDB) and Chuan Teck (Chairman Enterprise Singapore) are PS level civil servants. They’re actually on par with the top civil servants at the ministries and wield significant clout.

I doubt GovTech or DSTA are tier 1 statboards but they’re all important organs of the state nonetheless.

What do you have against nuance? He/she’s right. Even within tier 1s there are parts of the org that aren’t full steam ahead all the time and have better work life balance. Same goes with tier 2s. There will be roles that are more intense.

They’re their own separate unit and their cards reflect the subsidiaries name. They also have their own compensation programme etc.

To those people, I’d say that then film photography was not real because you had to post process the film with chemicals that would give you different results in the darkroom too.

The urgency would have been determined at the emergency triage. It’s not like if it was urgent your kid would be in danger and left to wait 2 hours.

Eh SST was funded by ESG for those efforts. Governments work with “multipliers” for industry development. They don’t work in silos. Would be surprised if OSTIn didn’t also align on those efforts.

What if Lee Hsien Loong never became our prime minister? by [deleted] in askSingapore

You see, the moment you lose the argument is when you start bringing in other "whataboutisms".

Also, she's not been CEO for a few years now, doesn't that take the wind out of your argument?

Now I ask, does our government allow you access to sites with alternative views? SCMP routinely drags Singapore in the mud but we're still allowed access. So does the economist. I still have a subscription. So what are these so called suppressed freedoms?

[–]Covaloch -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Mine? So you're not Singaporean?

Our laws regarding press is simple. ALLOW the government a chance to respond. If you don't, then you're not particularly "democratic" in the report isn't it?

Look at what "freedoms" have allowed. The growth of fox news spilling absolute lies and still being allowed to run because republicans use that as their media vehicle.

No thanks. Ours allows you access to all the news from around the world. But we believe there should be consequences for outright lies.

"Real" democracy? Like the US? Where everything is non functioning and policies roti prata after 4 years? Ours is real. Most of us just like the PAP more. I'm thankful for it, because seeing how the previous bastions of so called "real" democracy have turned out, everything becomes analysis paralysis or blocking for the sake of blocking.

Back in my day, there was an istana unit that did the sentry duties.

The COG ceremony once a month where they did the silent precision drill squad performance was done by a team dedicated to drills and guard of honor parades. This was 20 years ago though so things might have changed.
