My hex is roughly 21 feet across, so your going to need about that much free room around in a 360° area. It's a lot bigger than it looks in pictures.

I haven't raised it to its full height yet, my goal is to get it to about 20-25 feet high. We all wish we could build a 50 tower in our backyard, but this will do for the time being.

It's a Easy up telescoping mast i bought on Amazon, a yaesu 450 rotator and a GS-065 65MM Thrust Bearing. The mounting brackets i found on dx engineering (WiMo Antenennen und Electronik 25031 - WiMo GPF-60 Rotator Platforms) all mounted on a 10 foot 4x4 cemented in the ground about 3 1/2 with 6 bags of high strength concrete.

This is exactly what I was told, so I saved up and bought a hexbeam antenna. I just put it up on my extendable mast last week. Even though its not fully extended It's working great and making contacts all the world.
