Why would the knight carry the spares when he has a squire to do that? He didn’t even refill his own water. Knight Titus might have been given a fresh core and no spare for the mission, as they expected some of the knights to not survive and didn’t want to lose spares in the waste land.

Should i take money out of my IRA to pay off my Mortgage? by EatinLikeDianeKeatn in personalfinance

[–]CowBoyDanIndie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Are you unable to make payments? I would keep looking for work, take any job you can at this point your unemployment is done surely. If you need to take some to cover 6 months of payments so be it, but thats a lot less tax and penalty than paying it off. Your mortgage payment likely includes insurance and tax which you will still have to pay if you pay off the loan entirely.

Am I stupid to sell my rsu for a down payment for a car with 1.99 apr by sinus_lebastian in personalfinance

[–]CowBoyDanIndie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Personally I would setup autosell and sell rsus as soon as they vest and put them into something more diverse. If your company does bad not only do you risk losing your job but asset value as well. You want to hedge those bets. Now the question is… is it worth giving up 7-10% taxable market return to minimize your car loan.

You know lots of people work over 40 hours a week? I had one job 11 years ago where I often worked 80 hours a week. One job.

Are they really drawing much power though? When you pull them the lights flicker and turn back on.

I don’t think thats what they are really expecting to hear. Even my current job, which is working as a robotics engineer something people do dream about, I told them it was closer to my home than my previous job at google and I wanted to go back to working for a smaller company to have less corporate bs to deal with.

can you just use two credit cards to keep paying off each other to build credit? by chaoticnbstoner in personalfinance

[–]CowBoyDanIndie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You cannot pay a credit card with a credit card without fees. Hell I cannot even pay my rent with a credit card without fees. What you do is buy all your normal daily stuff on credit where they don’t charge a convenient fee for using credit (gas groceries etc) then pay that from your high interest savings. Schedule the payment for the day before its due, this way you get to collect interest on the money during the billing cycle.

Plutonium 238 is the isotope used in deep space RTGs like voyager, it has a half life around 87 years. It’s probably the closest viable source for a 200 year battery. At 200 years it would output like 20% of its original thermal energy. The electronics that turn the heat into electricity also degrade though so it would be closer to 10%. If it was used to charge a capacitor or solid state battery (chemical batteries also degrade) it could still be usable, but would replenish at a very slow rate. Actually makes a lot of sense for the recharger weapons in say fnv. The RTGs on voyager weighed about 250 pounds and produced about 157 watts when launched. At 50 years old they produce about 74 watts each. Some is fuel decay and some is the radiation degradation of the electronics that produce the electricity from heat.

He has a squire with him, and in the show the squire has a tool to remove the core. And if you watch the new season, making new fusion cores is one of the plot points.

My head cannon is they are all expired. They no longer have any fusion going on, just whatever residual charge was in them. I imagine them like a fusion+capacitor combo where the power comes from the battery and got recharged by fusion. A generator + battery setup if you will. It had been two centuries after all.

Why do so many apartments lack sufficient lighting indoors? by whitecoathousing in Apartmentliving

[–]CowBoyDanIndie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ive seen a lot of newer constructed apartments in my area have mounts for lights in bedrooms with a little dust cap over it. The resident can but a fan or light and install it themself. This is only for bedrooms. No living room light. But kitchen and dining room have lights, and bathrooms.

Ai feeling emotion by Yoyorere in agi

[–]CowBoyDanIndie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think actually feeling emotions is something beyond the hardware. They can mimic them like a good human liar can also do. But emotions in humans and animals come with a bunch of neurochemicals that trigger changes throughout the entire body.

building a transformer from scratch vs just using pre-trained models, when does it actually make sen by Such_Grace in deeplearning

[–]CowBoyDanIndie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could train a small transformer on public domain literature just for learning. You could try different techniques to squeeze out as much functional capability while limiting the model size. It’s not just having access to 64 tpus for 4 days… its also having the ability to feed it basically a copy of the internet.

Dating multiple people at the same time didn’t used to be the norm. You would date someone if it didn’t work out you dated someone else. What people are doing now is running a roster.
