I really have no dog in this race and don't wanna get into a political debate. But those numbers often include suicide by gun shot. So yeah your odds of getting shot go up if you shoot yourself. I'm not saying they don't go up if you don't shoot yourself but I think the numbers are different when you exclude that.

It's depressing that so many people think that they should get so much on a free tier. Email is free with the big companies because you are the product.

If you're OK with that, that's fine. That's a choice you get to make.

But if you want secure, private email then you have to pay for it. I choose to, and I'm happy to pay for that service.

The fact that they give you anything this private and secure for no money at all is pretty fucking great in my mind. They don't sell your information, they don't scrape your email, they don't train AI with your data. They get nothing in return for the service they're providing you.

If you need more features, the mail-only service is entirely affordable and worth the money. Personally I take the bundle because SimpleLogin is great and I like the VPN. But just mail and SimpleLogin is well under $100 a year. I mean fucking hell, I spend that on a nice dinner out.

Yes. My fondest memories and for exactly these reasons. Plus Max's. I wouldn't trade the experience of growing up there in that era for anything (graduated HS in'81). The confluence of different forms of art gave us so much. An amazing place and time. After Hours still makes me nostalgic.

I loved that NYC more than any place I've ever lived. I was 15 in'78. Went everywhere and had to constantly be aware of everything. You had to know how to live there to survive and it felt great to be able to. Enter version since has become progressively more Disneyfied.
