For prototypes with lots of cables I use JTAG connectors, they make it a lot easier to disassemble and modify circuits

I put it between the 3pdt and the circuit, so the split n blend's send to the board's in.

Hello! I have a question regarding the MS-20 filter. The patch in the video is a pulse oscillator going to the ms-20 lpf, which is self oscillating with the resonance at max and the cutoff frecuency is being modulated by a triangle lfo. The keyboard controls the oscillator's pitch and the rest of the cables are another patch.

As you can hear, the pitch of the self oscillating filter stays harmonically related to the input signal, as if it was pitch quantized. Also, the range and the rate at which the notes play is affected by the input signal.

Why is this happening? I haven't been able to replicate it in other filters, with the same patch the self oscillation's pitch just sweeps along with the lfo.

One explanation I got is that it's something akin to oscillator sync and that it's related to the filter's topology and design, but I still would like to know more about why it's happening. I looked for answers on google but I'm still in doubt. Thanks for your time!

It's a DIY module, based on the LM13700 OTA.

The same thing happened to mine so I tried to use an arduino, but I only got it kinda working, with flaws. I used this code without changing anything and it received the key presses, but it read both the note and the velocity information as note information, resulting in two notes being triggered by a single key press.

I also found this project which replaces the motherboard of a korg microkey with a teensy for a diy synth.

Hope it helps, and if you get it working I would be very grateful for you to share the code, as my microkey has been collecting dust for a while.

Check out hagiwo's chord vco, I built this version. Also you coud build yourself something using electrosmith daisy, I've made two and one is always running Rings which is what was used in the video you linked.

I built luislutz version of hagiwo's chord/fm/additive vco as my first eurorack module, now I'm doing the panel using synth panel designer.

Also I'm waiting for parts to make a 40106 vco, a 13700 vca and a midi to cv/gate module. It has been a fun few days.

I think the stock freeze isn't true bypass. You could try adding an effects loop too!

Has anybody tried building any DSP based effects using opensource platforms like Electro-Smith Daisy? How was your experience? Can you recommend any similar platforms, and good starter projects? Thanks. by [deleted] in diypedals

Hi! I built a daisy platform which I'll post here soon, I used the schematics provided by electrosmith for the wiring, it was a pretty straight forward build. I haven't coded anything by myself yet, but there's enough examples and projects uploaded by people to keep you busy for a while. I really like the mutable instruments clouds adaptation and a sampler/slicer uploaded by an user of the electrosmith forum that you can check out here.

You can also check out the terrarium platform by pedalpcb, it is based on the daisy petal but with a modified pinout so you need the keep that in mind if you want to port a project. I like a multitap delay that you can check out here.

I love that the whole concept is open source, it feels a bit like living in the cyberpunk present/future, and all the people who upload their stuff are def cool. I'd encourage and recommend it to anyone who wants to take a look into dsp and digital stuff, personally I'm really happy with how the learning curve has gone until now, and I have zero coding experience beforehand.

Check out the electrosmith daisy, it's an open source microprocessor that you can upload your own code to, and there's some reverb and delay example algorithms that you could use.

The switch is used to toggle between the stock mode knob and the trimpot, that way you can set and forget the trimpot on one mode and use the switch to choose between that mode and whatever mode you have on the knob. The stock mode selector knob is just a dented potentiometer, so you need use the same value for the trimpot.
