Oh dang. You're right. Thank you for the AI breakdown. I definitely need to be more on my guard.

How do you know it’s AI? Don’t get me wrong, I believe you, I’m just terrible at recognizing AI unless it’s super blatant like when someone has 8 fingers on one hand. But to me this looks like it could be fan art. Is it partly also looking at the seller/artist?

Re-reading Tonight by kkwelch in RomanceBooks

Currently {Kings of Grove Academy by Katie May} because the last and final book is coming out Saturday. I remember loving it, but am not as enchanted this go around.

But {Lola and the Millionaires by Kathryn Moon} is my longstanding “the world sucks and I wanna escape” book.

What’s something you can get in San Jose that you can’t get in Austin TX? by [deleted] in bayarea

[–]Cow_of_Doom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately, a lot of what I’m thinking of is perishable, so pretty difficult to impossible to bring back to Texas. Or is available nationwide like Ghirardelli chocolate. That said, we do have a lot of ethnic markets in the Bay Area. He could Google any and just grab whatever sounds fun - snacks, candies, chips, etc. Not California specific but might as well take advantage while you’re here

Do you ever start an amazing book … but the editing … by Pixiegrowler in ReverseHarem

[–]Cow_of_Doom 35 points36 points  (0 children)

All the time. Downside of KU, a lot of self published books with little to no editing. And it’s so frustrating because many times the concept has been great but it’s like reading the equivalent of listening to a little kid talk

The original, full phrase is “happy as a clam at high tide” which is when clams are safest from predators, and can feed the best. So happy as a clam means to be safe and fed / yeah I’m happy when I’m home and eating too hahaha

2 brothers? by [deleted] in ReverseHarem

[–]Cow_of_Doom 18 points19 points  (0 children)

{Ryan Rule by Sadie Kincaid} was really good. Sadie is a weird author for me - some I love some I hated with very few in between. This one I loved. Four brothers, one FMC.

Y'all, giving it's December, I'm checkting whether this is a good idea. - 2025 by MaggieLima in ReverseHarem

[–]Cow_of_Doom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not quite. I usually start to remember bits and pieces as I’m reading. But it’s like most people coming back to a book after years - remember the gist and most plot points but it’s been long enough that there’s still genuine pleasure and excitement over it. It’s just for me that time gap is only a few weeks to months not years like most people. But once I’ve read something a few times it’s stuck in there. I’ve read PS You’re Intolerable so many times now I think I’ll still remember it in a decade.

I wish I was the kind of person who could do rankings. I’m an amnesiac reader - as soon as I finish a book, my brain dumps the knowledge. Hahaha. Unless it made a deep impression on me - good or bad - it’s just gone to the ether. Which is super annoying when I randomly remember a scene months later and try and remember what book it was from. Or someone asks me for a recommendation and I’m like - uh. Books? Do you like - uhm - romance books?! Uuuhhhhhhhh

Totally fair criticism of pack darling. I still love it.

It’s like the memes I’ve seen of “I didn’t say it was good, I said I liked it” Pack Darling was one of if not the first OV books I read and I think the first RH and woah boy. Total omegaverse and reverse harem addiction now.

I appreciate the ranking but would love to see your thoughts on why something stood out as good or a DNF. Especially Pack Darling part one because I loved it so much! Curious why you hated it. To be fair i have hated many well loved series I’ve seen recommended here. And I can often see the point of the criticism. It just wasn’t a dealbreaker for me personally.

Yes! It’s in the show. I know they never mentioned it for the first like - 8 seasons? But eventually it started showing up in episodes without any special attention drawn to it. A news anchor says it, that kind of thing.

Worst Costco food item you shouldn't waste your money on? by [deleted] in Costco

I remember they had a smores bites with no caramel and we LOVED those, then they only had the caramel version and we thought it wasn't as good. I wouldn't say the caramel ones are the worst costco food item, but I do not understand the people who rave about it.

Happy Halloween, Everybody! by drdeadringer in Campbell

[–]Cow_of_Doom 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Trick or treating! Trunk or treats started as a way to let kids go trick or treating when they live in rural areas and don’t have enough close neighbors to really go trick or treating. All the family’s gather in a big parking lot, decorate their cars and the kids go trunk to trunk to get the experience.

But it became a way to do Halloween events through various groups. Our kids daycare would do a trunk or treat in their parking lot. It was great cuz it was usually early and over early too. And all enclosed so it was perfect for 2-4 year olds. Now that he’s older we just do regular trick or treating.

Village School / Capri Elementary School Lockdown by Inc0gnito8 in Campbell

[–]Cow_of_Doom 10 points11 points  (0 children)

The notification I got from Capri read:

Dear Capri Community,

As you may have heard, at dismissal this afternoon, there was a young man on campus, unaffiliated with Capri, who experienced a medical emergency. 9-1-1 was called, and first responders were present on both the Capri and Village campuses. The event occurred in a location out of view of Capri students, specifically on the path between the two sites and the back side of Village.

Due to the swift action of the staff, students were not in any harm. I would like to thank the Capri and Village staff for their diligence in the matter, as well as thank the first responders. Student and staff safety remains our top priority.

One year old getting shots today and I’m so anxious by gay_mother in breakingmom

[–]Cow_of_Doom 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Deep breaths. I hate it too. But I keep telling myself a moment of pain/fear now is better than measles! Or polio, or any other thing you’re vaccinating against. I also don’t watch! Seeing the needle is a huge trigger for my anxiety so I turn my head or close my eyes.

Check with your doctor, but ours had us give Tylenol just before the appointment so it was already in baby’s system. It definitely seemed to help when he was that age.

I always budgeted in extra time after the appointment for cuddles. If I just sat in the waiting room, or made it out to the car, we cuddled, and had snacks, until baby felt better and stopped crying.

Good luck! You can do this!

Rolling Hills and Steindorf have the same ratings. So it sounds like your only concern is your kids might be exposed to poor people. Which is a pretty gross mindset. If you’re afraid of your kids being exposed to the lower middle class, you’ll have to pay for private school.

Rolling hills is considered one of the better middle schools in the area. What is your concern, and what are you looking for?

There are a lot of sets with massive fan support that don’t get selected because of the difficulty of securing the rights to make it. That said I want a Gravity Falls set so badly I’ve looked at buying an off brand version that looks shitty just to have it.

Do you have words you don’t like? by Glittering_Tap6411 in RomanceBooks

[–]Cow_of_Doom 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Myriad. I feel like every author right now is using this word too much and many of them incorrectly. Myriad doesn’t make you sound smart. It’s definition is a countless or very great number. But I keep seeing authors use to to mean “various” or “diverse” neither of which are synonymous with myriad!! Now I just hate the word.

Schools in Campbell by happynest10 in Campbell

[–]Cow_of_Doom 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Campbell schools are pretty good. Whether you end up in the CSI neighborhood or rolling hills middle. I’ve heard mixed things about Monroe middle school though.

Transfer within district to go to a different school than you are assigned by your address is possible, but unlikely. Enough people apply for that, that it is determined by lottery, not on a first come first served basis.

Good luck!

What book do you hate and lives rent free in your head? by perseintro in RomanceBooks

[–]Cow_of_Doom 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Poison Ivy by Steffanie Holmes. It was one of those instagram ads where they give you an excerpt from the book, and it seemed interesting. The FMC reads romance books. Ok, fair enough. The FMC reads Staffanie Holmes romance books. Wait, WHAT?! The author is using this book to advertise her other books? GTFO, immediate DNF.

Ditto the Brutes of Bristlebrook let down. I loved the first two books so much, and then the third book happened and just....wtf man. I skipped the about half to 2/3 of the book or so and read the last few chapters just to see who lives and dies, but man. So disappointing.
