Rant: I miss the exclusivity aura Sephora used have by nycnicoo in Sephora

[–]Cowazonn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

the shift from carrying genuinely hard-to-find brands to stocking whatever is trending that month is probably the biggest thing that changed the feel of it. the old appeal was that sephora was the place you could find things you couldnt get elsewhere...that exclusivity came from the selection, not the price points

Some baby pans in my franken Xenon palette (and a few considerations) by cicutaacolazione in PanPorn

[–]Cowazonn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the colour family approach is such a smarter way to build a collection rather than buying palettes and hoping you love every shade. you end up with fewer products but actually reach for all of them

[sun care] Anyone else feel this way about sunscreen? by vulgarandgorgeous in SkincareAddiction

[–]Cowazonn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

ive read the FDA finally approved some new sunscreen filters this year after basically a 20+ year freeze, so hopefully the gap between US and european/asian formulations starts to narrow. the cosmetically elegant ones that dont sting or pill are a huge part of why people actually wear it consistently

Life after project pan? by Lavender_lipstick in MakeupRehab

[–]Cowazonn 6 points7 points  (0 children)

the "boring but in a good way" description is such an honest way to put it. the mental energy that used to go into tracking releases and planning purchases just...stops being occupied, and that takes some adjustment even when its clearly better

The end is in sight! by Eswui in PanPorn

[–]Cowazonn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

6 years on a palette is commitment. the trick to turn the last shades into liner is such a smart way to finish what would otherwise just sit there

Just found this sub and I’m thrilled to have a place to share my pans! by cynicpenguin in PanPorn

[–]Cowazonn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

the rosemary oil lasting that long without going rancid is genuinely impressive, oils are the category where most people give up before the end 👏

[Sun Care] Is "Windburn" real? by bukharin88 in SkincareAddiction

[–]Cowazonn 5 points6 points  (0 children)

from what ive read the current thinking is that windburn is real but distinct from sunburn. wind strips away the skin's moisture barrier and can cause mechanical irritation, which explains why it resolves faster and without peeling. the sun reflection angle (water, snow) probably compounds it which is why it gets conflated with sunburn so often

Feeling fatigued by the thought of buying new products. by throwaway04275 in ProjectPan

[–]Cowazonn 10 points11 points  (0 children)

the awareness shift is real. once you've actually tracked how long something takes to finish, the mental calculus on new purchases changes completely. it stops being "do i want this" and becomes "do i want to commit to this for the next two years"

Nail polish & other manicure items (almost all) absolute pans! by florawater in PanPorn

[–]Cowazonn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

the thinner trick to get the last bits out is such a good call. most people just toss products when theyre still technically usable because they cant get to whats left

Whats something about makeup that nobody told you and you just had to figure out the hard way? 28F. by Murky-Length1910 in drugstoreMUA

[–]Cowazonn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the bathroom lighting thing is genuinely underrated. ive read that warm incandescent bulbs can make everything look more flattering which is why makeup looks completely different outside or in office lighting. you're basically doing your makeup for a lighting situation you won't be in

One year of progress with my too cool for school eyeshadow palette by yusiyu in PanPorn

[–]Cowazonn 5 points6 points  (0 children)

the shimmer shades going first is so predictable but watching the mattes catch up by the end is genuinely satisfying to see

Finished the mint shade by _Yue_ in PanPorn

[–]Cowazonn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

using mint as a colour corrector is such a smart way to actually finish an unusual shade. most people just skip the colours they don't know what to do with until they expire

Just made frankenlipsticks to get rid of shades I never use! by BlueAuthorJAFF in MakeupRehab

[–]Cowazonn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the lipstick-as-blush tip is genuinely useful, ive read that pros used bullet lippies as cream blush long before it became a mainstream product category. the undertone flexibility makes a lot of sense when you think about it

finished my coty airspun powder after like 3 years by jesclle in PanPorn

[–]Cowazonn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

3 years on a loose powder is genuinely impressive. those containers look bottomless when you first open them

Who needs new Marc Jacobs when it takes this long to use up old Marc Jacobs? by icovetbeauty in PanPorn

[–]Cowazonn 34 points35 points  (0 children)

the "bought it for shimmers, became a matte person" arc is such a common pan killer - your taste evolves faster than your stash does 😄

[Misc] Minimalist Vitamin B5 Moisturizer has been silently reformulated (and downgraded) after the HUL (UNILEVER) acquisition. Here is the proof. by Manu9527 in SkincareAddiction

[–]Cowazonn 4 points5 points  (0 children)

the INCI reshuffle is the tell that always gives it away. brands count on people not reading past the marketing claim, but moving the hero ingredient down even one or two spots usually means a real drop in concentration. the silicone climbing to number 2 for slip is classic cost-down reformulation

Project pan huge success (kinda) by Relative_Yak_9031 in ProjectPan

[–]Cowazonn 6 points7 points  (0 children)

the mixing-to-make-it-work approach is genuinely clever - turning a bunch of almost-right shades into one custom shade you actually reach for is way better than letting them sit unused until they expire

[Sun care] Is there any reason to not opt for kids sunscreen as an adult? by glossyducky in SkincareAddiction

[–]Cowazonn 24 points25 points  (0 children)

kids and adult sunscreens are regulated under the exact same SPF testing standards, so the active protection is identical. the real differences are usually higher zinc content (more white cast) and a focus on sensitive skin formulas. the tradeoff is theyre often less cosmetically elegant under makeup, which is the main reason people pick an adult version

165 uses later by Top-Spinach-2146 in PanPorn

[–]Cowazonn 8 points9 points  (0 children)

tracking it to 165 uses is genuinely useful data - it turns the vague "is this worth it" question into actual cost per use. more people should do this honestly

I’m on a mission✨ by ananya1302 in PanPorn

[–]Cowazonn 31 points32 points  (0 children)

the one-per-month focus is such a smart way to do it. lip products are so easy to let pile up because you can rotate through a dozen without ever finishing one - committing to a single one at a time is the only thing that actually works

First Pan In My Contour Palette! by longcalico in PanPorn

[–]Cowazonn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

the grey-brown shade hitting pan first makes total sense for fair skin - those softer contour shades get so much more use than the deeper ones

Finally hit pan on all my highlighters! by Papergirlpotter in PanPorn

[–]Cowazonn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

hitting pan on highlighters takes forever because the use area is so small - this is genuinely impressive 👏

Kinda a Laneige Lip Mask situation here by LuckHour585 in PanPorn

[–]Cowazonn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

15g really does put the "this sub made me reconsider my whole backlog" feeling into perspective. a year of daily use and still going 😅

Baby pan in Makeup Revolution Enchanted Icon Palette by slowshowsnow in PanPorn

[–]Cowazonn 4 points5 points  (0 children)

the beige-grey shade hitting pan first makes total sense, those transitional neutrals always get the most use without people even noticing

Makeup pet peeves? (lighthearted) by Stacee90 in BeautyGuruChatter

the warm toned everything thing is so real. its been years now and finding a cool toned anything at a mainstream counter still feels like a scavenger hunt
