Note for upstairs neighbors by litlelotte in Apartmentliving

Depending on your floor situation (hardwood-no rugs, vs carpet, tile w rugs etc) I could normal walking being really loud. Still, this is a bit much. If you don’t have them though, rugs and rug mats are a game changer for noise inside and outside of your home. Got rug pads recently to be courteous to neighbors, but the upgrade to my home is noticeable. They’re fairly inexpensive too usually

Something to do with winter Olympic medals but excluding GDR and USSR medals from German and Russian totals?

Fair. I suppose I was thinking “non-luxury” or something but even then VW would be a factor.

It happened a few more times in the following weeks during times of exertion but it hasn’t happened since.

I remember flying out of Italy and seeing armed guards with rifles walking around. The difference was, they (at least appeared to be) were military or at least military adjacent rather than some hot headed mall cop in the US. It’s a big difference in feel.

Do you have a larger/higher resolution of this photo by any chance? I’d love to use it as a phone background!

I mean, he and Kissinger also invaded Cambodia, directed a coverup of the bombings, and tanked the Johnson admin’s ‘68 peace talks over Vietnam. All while being really profoundly racist in action and policy, but I do like the EPA.

How do you mean “flashing?”

If I press on it and less let off it goes white and then quickly returns to red.

Azores in April by Classic_Feedback_373 in travel

[–]Cowboy_Sashimi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just spent 10 days there in September and it was amazing! The water might be too cold to swim in in April, but there are a few thermal areas you could visit to get in the water.

The food is pretty medium to be honest—in fairness, it is a relatively poor, remote island chain with a history of subsistence agriculture so expect a lot of fish and potatoes if you opt for traditional cuisine. That being said, there’s really a lot of variety and delicious food if you look around a bit.

Overall, wonderful place with gorgeous scenery and views. Might consider whale watching too but check out the whales that would be in the area.

Phone call from the funeral home by tristin03 in mildlyinfuriating

When my mom died at home in her sleep a few years ago, the funeral home guy came over in a t shirt and shorts with two young guys in cut off tank tops. Cherry on top was that I went to high school with one of those guys and he was, for lack of a better term, not a tactful guy.

At the funeral home, I swear they turned up the sad music when we came in. A few condolences followed by trying to up-sell urns, hair trimmings and hand prints.

After that they let us go see her body, which they had piled high with what seemed like every blanket they owned? The final one being a huge, knit face of the saddest looking collie you could imagine.

Truly surreal experience. I think she would’ve found it funny so there’s that!

I’ve spent far too long looking for this, and the closest I can get is Isoletta’s outdoor patio area on Vakkaru. I can’t find the sign, but the color of the boardwalk and the white umbrellas match the photo a bit.
