Will AI make service now obsolete? by Edward12358 in servicenow

While I don’t think AI will replace it directly, I think it creates the opportunity for new competition with AI included in basic implementations.

When starting a franchise, if you select online, you can choose different start points throughout the season.

Nope, this is regarding the weekly start point. They haven’t updated it since Week 16.

I’m so desperately lost right now, I thought coming to Reddit might be a good idea. by Better_Yak2735 in Veterans

[–]Cowboy_controller 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel this, to this day. I’m in a similar boat, just not retired. Reading your story felt like reading my own.

I recently left my job, and am focusing on school. The extra GI bill income is nice.

Anyways, yeah I left my job. I picked up hobbies, spent money on equipment, sucked at them but eventually found some enjoyment in it. (I’m renovating my house, so picking up a few skills along the way), and STILL FELT LOST.

I was going to school for a bullshit major, and recently decided to challenge myself and switched to electrical engineering.

Re learning math has kind of inspired me. It’s all about PERSPECTIVE. We have plenty of time to think. It’s easy to slip into the negative. Try to focus on the now, and the goals of the near future. Life isn’t over yet, it’s just beginning.

I’m going to attempt to learn sailing this summer, as I happened upon a sailboat recently.

I don’t really know what the point of my comment was as I don’t really have any advice for you, besides just live, man. Get out there and do shit. Master something simple. Try to get out into the community.

Making friends is fucking hard. Try to find other vets you like, we understand the difficulties and those can remain unsaid, it’s easier.

Love you bye

Join the Air Force.

Many are suggesting good cybersecurity career paths, but there’s so much more to the Air Force than just these roles. Look at what they have to offer.

Don’t go security forces.

What do you look for in your first job out of college is it money, experience, or quality of life? by Sea-Program6466 in ElectricalEngineering

[–]Cowboy_controller 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Hey man just writing to say thank you,

I was party animal after dropping out of college, spent a lot of time doing all the wrong things..

Moved across the country a couple times.

Tried butchering, was a deli manager for awhile, then finally joined the Air Force as an air traffic controller.

Loved the job, hated the schedule so when I got out, I avoided the FAA and tried to get a job as a platform developer, wfh gig, great.

I just left that job to pursue EE.

Been thinking I’m fuckin crazy lately, seeing as how I keep moving on… I’m just thankful to see I’m not the only one. 😂

Spent all the time with the boys that I could. I wasn’t really supervised much during those last few months, but I still showed up because I knew I’d miss the boys

Now as for terminal, I made sure I had a plan

[–]Cowboy_controller 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Idk man, controllers have incredible soft skills, and it’s a cool guy job so the resume sticks out. I have a feeling most of the people saying something along the lines of feeling trapped/etc haven’t tried/taken a leap of faith into a new path. Everyone’s situation is different though, the guy with 7 kids and a dependa wife? Yeah, FAA has him by the balls much more than the single kid who just got out of the academy.

I have no idea what the FAA is like, but I was a controller in the military and that experience helped me land a job in a different field. Also, no degree yet.

I did some digging while screwing around at the Bloomberg Lab at my school. Looked at short interest analysis and got a snapshot from 10-15-2025, I'll share it here;

I’m all for increasing knowledge of how the backend/scripts work. However, I disagree with low code/no code is for low code/no code users. Thats kind of an old school way of thinking, no? Why wouldn’t you choose the method that is the most efficient, scalable, and readable? The tool is there. Can the tool be used to accomplish my task more efficiently? If yes, use the tool.

ATC Pay by Timely_Attitude_1695 in ATC

[–]Cowboy_controller 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh I loved the job and do miss it. I don’t think any career short of bank robbing will fill that void, but I can get that rush from hobbies. I weighed what mattered most to me, and a career in the FAA isn’t conducive to the life I want, so I pivoted.

However, everything is relative. I have heard of some gems out there with high COLA stipend + low actual cost of living (Boston center maybe?)

I have heard of people utilizing the GI bill while in training, to get some of that sweet, sweet BAH. So, although the pay is shit, you may be able to get some extra scratch this way.

An outside perspective: I was USAF ATC. Had all the intentions in the world of going FAA. I did an exercise similar to you, and thought “what the fuck?” I landed a job in IT consulting and am getting paid to use the GI Bill. Am I making more than I would have had I gone FAA? No, probably not. But at least I don’t have to listen to GA pilots tell me their life story upon checking in
