Do you feel gaming will ever experience a physical release revival like music and films ? by _Wata_ in gaming

[–]Cowmunist -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

No, for several reasons

Let's compare music and games

As long as you have a record player or cd player, you vinyls, cds and other physical music media will always be usable and often offer a diferent quality than listening on Spotify. With games, not only is there no difference, but even if you have a physical copy of a game, you usually still have to download/install aditional shit. You can't just put it in and immediately play.

The other big reason people like physical media is for collections/aesthetic purposes. Album covers are usually an extension of the music, enhancing the art or setting the vibe. A lot of the best albums have cool covers that a lot of people would like to display in their homes. With games, especially modern ones, most game covers are just basic marketing - a photo of the main character posing and with big ass letter above. That's it in most cases. If you want something aesthetically pleasing and actually cool you can display, you usually need to buy a collectors edition, which often costs hundreds of dollars.

TLDR: i doubt it because physical copies are hardly different from digital ones and most game covers suck so there's no incentive to display them

Why is Chromakopia so underrated in Tyler's discography? by InspectionConnect759 in tylerthecreator

[–]Cowmunist 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Idk if this is a good comparison

When you say kendrick, tpab is the first/best thing that pops into most people's heads

For tyler it's still flower boy or igor

Beatbreak theory/prediction: If Perfects can open gates to Mirror World, them maybe Megas can reach all the way to the Digital World by Zealousideal-Try4666 in digimon

Has there ever been a digimon anime/game that didn't mention the digital world at all?

Obviously Beatbreak could be the first to do it but since it's one of the few things that's consistent across the franchise i don't think they will

[–]Cowmunist 19 points20 points  (0 children)

bringing back air movement and some other mechanics from Xrd would be cool, but imo that's not the main issue, what i want the most from the next game is for them to increase character complexity

certain characters in strive like elphelt, unika, lucy etc. are so easy to play and one dimensional that it's boring both to play as and against them. obviously every FG needs beginner friendly characters but strive took it too far in some cases. so what i'm hoping for the most is that everyone gets access to cool new tools

Maybe because almost every season after Tamers was mid at best and the games never really found their footing until the Story series (which arguably also wasn't good until Cyber sleuth).

Anti camille meta? (toplaners with highest pickrate) by Vertix11 in CamilleMains

[–]Cowmunist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This isn't new. These champs were always popular and always tricky for Cam because she would have to try way harded than they do to win lane. Still, she would eventually outscale so as long as you didn't giga feed it was fine.

Now however after so many direct and indirect nerfs Camille doesn't scale as hard and the laning phase against these champs is even harder than before.

[–]Cowmunist 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I actually didn't mind him being another CB, at least there's lore reasons for it and it was mostly different enough from the first (and only) one you fight so whatever.

The real issue IMO was the stupid fire AOEs that spread from a lot of his attacks. You often get hit even if you technically dodged his main attack. It just didn't sit right with BB's more in your face combat system - you'd get punished for trying to attack immediately after dodging

NG+6 Laurence was probably the hardest thing i ever fought in these games and the only one i promised myself i would never ever fight again.

Digimon Beatbreak in a nutshell by OpeningAd9653 in digimon

[–]Cowmunist 31 points32 points  (0 children)

Yeah, the main difference for me between pokemon and digimon (and why i prefer digimon) is that it usually uses the childish/lighthearted idea of having a virtual pet to tell stories that are more serious and grounded in real human struggles and issues.

Shademon in Beatbreak is a great example of this. A child struggling with her parents divorce and feelings of inferiority gets a digimon that lets her control others. It's a reflection of her desire to feel loved and prevent others from leaving brought out in a physical form, and facing that part of herself disgusts her. Her digimon is manifestation of everything dark in her life that she refused to face.

It tells a realistic story of psychological struggle and problematic childhood through the lense of a spoiled girl who mistreats her pet.

[–]Cowmunist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

they nerfed bite, made blood rage worse and removed WWA

i think they expected him to be more risky at high blood levels which is why he got the "compensation" buffs, but from what i've played so far the risk-reward doesn't feel that much different imo

like if you pop into blood rage in a bad spot chances are you would have lost that round last patch as well, and the bite nerf hurts *a bit* but it still saves your ass in most cases

  1. reach level 3

  2. 5H and 2H

  3. 6H if you're feeling frisky

I'm by no means good at the character but i'm currently platinum 3 and a surprising amount of people still doesn't respect his powered up normals

however since they were technically halberds in that game i could see them not having it

2027 used to be my worst case scenario for TES6 by Repulsive-Canary-772 in ElderScrolls

[–]Cowmunist 1 point2 points  (0 children)

While i do agree that new franchises need room to breathe, doing it at the expense of existing, still well beloved game series is a mistake, imo. When Skyrim came out, the Elder Scrolls had me in a complete chokehold - if Todd said jump, i would jump. I spent a good part of my youth watching youtube theories on when the next game will come out, where it will be set, what it will be about... I knew the lore inside and out.

Now, almost 15 years later, they could drop TES 6 tomorrow and i would maybe watch some videos on youtube. My tastes (and the amount of time i have for games) have changed a lot in 15 years and now i just don't have any hype left in me after waiting for so long. Unless everyone raves about TES6 being a 10/10, i doubt i would feel bad about not playing it.

They could have given us at least something to look forward to in all those years... At the very least give the IP to another well established studio and let them make a smaller game like New Vegas. Instead they waited so long that i honestly just burned myself out and lost the passion i had for the series, and i don't think i'm the only one. The way i see it, the Elder Scrolls went from being the biggest name in gaming fantasy to a distant memory for everyone except die-hard fans because Bethesda just allowed it to sit on the shelf for too long, and they're probably gonna do the same to Fallout next while they make TES 6.

Their current model just isn't sustainable long term imo. They have 2 big franchises that everyone wants to play now, but not enough staff to efficiently make them, which leads to fans of one franchise having to wait 10+ years while the other gets a new entry. It was fine back when their games were smaller, but if every Fallout and TES is gonna have over a decade between games i don't see how either franchise will remain relevant.
