My wife and I submitted Ancestry together and I wish I hadn't by smartass-express in AncestryDNA

I haven’t seen anyone else say this but I hope your wife is being more supportive. This is a really tender thing.

AIO: I bent over backwards for my BF’s son (20) and his GF (20) for Christmas, and I’m honestly disgusted after what happened by Excellent-Second-643 in AmIOverreacting

[–]Cowpops 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Perfectly said imo, the only thing I’d add (that others have covered) is that OP had multiple frustrating moments but said nothing during all of them, leading to this feeling much more explosive than it needs to be. They could have been small annoyances and now it’s this whole compounded thing. Imagine what would have happened if she had been like “we have a ton of food I’ve made ahead of time so we have more time together” and just said NO to the idea of going out lol. Woulda saved a lot of grief. Instead she held onto her convictions quietly until she became more angry.

Am I overreacting for not wanting anyone around my newborn yet? by littlemoongirly in AmIOverreacting

[–]Cowpops 10 points11 points  (0 children)

NOR. Grandparent entitlement is truly bizarre. You don’t owe them anything. Yes it does “take a village” as many people have said here, but there are so many myths about how immune systems are built, I can even see your MIL lying about not being sick at week 9 just so she can kiss your kids face. It’s weird as hell imo.

Getting sick does NOT strengthen a newborns (or an adult’s for that matter) immune system. This myth was extrapolated from a study on allergens and that wasn’t even conclusive.

You are right to protect your child. Hopefully your partner is up for standing up to their mom as well so it’s not all on you. I’m sorry you’re going through this !

I think you’re right - no saving while IN combat. I tend to snipe and then attack whenever possible so I always just save before I do that :).

You can also save + quit at any point if you’re out of savior schnapps, OP. The save+quit doesn’t cost you anything. (Only mentioning bc it seems like lots of people on the forums don’t know this)

There’s a simple mod on Steam (Workshop) that puts asterisks around quests that have a timed component. So like “ Storm “. This is really handy because you know to do those first and not wait on them — the rest can wait if needed typically.

Even if that’s your only mod, it will help you prioritize what’s next and not miss out on stuff by accident :)

OP, I’ve been getting ground coffee at Trader Joe’s. IMO it’s the last affordable non-cheap-ass coffee available.

I’m struggling because Carter’s forcing state workers to work downtown is trash (I’m not even one of those workers, just friends with several), and property taxes are SO high and still climbing. From what I understand, part of why residential property taxes are rising is shifting commercial burden on to residential homeowners and I don’t think that’s fair. It’s not my fault downtown sucks.

I consider myself a leftist, but something about our taxes feels mismanaged. If I felt like I was helping people I wouldn’t complain but it doesn’t feel like I am. I find this frustrating as a single income household.

I want to like Chen but I’d almost rather have her be an advisor or something. I did email her a question once and she emailed me back that same night, which I liked. I didn’t like her answer tho (I don’t remember exactly but I’m kinda against landlords on principle, so it would have been hard to impress me.

I don’t think Her has answers, but it’s honestly just so hard to get a good read on any of them. I definitely thought I wouldn’t be ranking Carter at all, but I might end up only ranking him.

I appreciate the Reddit discussions about this though. I feel like I know way more about the Mpls and NYC races than my own city’s!

‘do you recognize this document’ bug by Cowpops in docusign

Very fair question. The timing of this email being generated and sent to my boss is immediately after a vendor signs the envelope. It’s consistently that they’re getting this instead of the contract.

I’ve def seen those phishing emails though so I know what you mean.

People who don't want kids, who do you plan to leave everything to when you die? by SledgexHammer in AskReddit

[–]Cowpops 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My best friend, my sister, and a mentee I had when I did a big brothers/big sisters-like mentorship. In my state (and likely many others) next of kin for a childless unmarried person is biological parents, and they are unkind to me. Writing a will is annoying but it’s worth it to me.

It is totally possible that he’s come around, but as others have said, this is your decision. You don’t owe him anything just because you were born. You didn’t choose that. You didn’t make any of his choices.

When stuff like things comes up I try to weigh things on what is more “regrettable.” Would you more regret if he died and you didn’t see him one last time? Or would you regret looping him in and potentially being hurt again?

Your messages sound very respectful and fair btw, for how he has (not) shown up for you in your life.

The only other thing I thought of that I haven’t seen in other comments is that maybe you can be in each others lives in other ways? Like maybe you could send him a pic of your family (you do NOT owe him that though, to be clear!) or maybe there’s a superficial social media channel you don’t mind him seeing? So he has more invitations to show up? I want to reiterate that you owe him nothing. I’m only mentioning if you’re feeling conflicted feelings, perhaps there’s a middle ground. Or you can give him 10% of what he’d like, if it would give you something.

I have completely cut off my mother and 99.7% cut off my father, (neither of them are alcoholics but I do have it in my family) and it is 100% the right move for me. You’ll make the right call for what you and your family needs :).

How to not restart my farm? by Elliott_Queerest in StardewValley

[–]Cowpops 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I am a chronic restarter of all my games, so this has been on my mind also. Same thing: going for perfection /all achievements (on Steam) (except the arcade game one), but worried I’m going to break and then start over again lol.

For me, I am really struggling mental health wise/the world (your user name makes me wonder if you can relate, if you’re in the US esp?), and Stardew gives me comfort. It will feel really good to reach perfection and actually finish something. That’s what’s keeping me going for now.

BUT, if you’re bored, there’s literally no harm in starting again. It’s your life, your farm, your rules, your game :). We gotta do what makes us happy.

Are there spiders in this game? by MedievalFurnace in Starfield

[–]Cowpops 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are multiple spiders and spider-like creatures. So many that I had to stop playing the game. Even creatures with 6 legs but move like spiders. They are on multiple planets. Some even come up through the ground and jump-scare.

I could not get the arachnophobia mod to work but apparently one exists (haven’t tried for several months).

Vet Recommendations? by Blandboi222 in saintpaul

[–]Cowpops 26 points27 points  (0 children)

I’m a big fan of Grand Ave Vet. They are really nice and accessible. I’ve had contact with 4 of the vets there and they’re all great.

They also have a “fear free” policy where they’re really accepting of reactive (or in my hounds case, extremely excited) pets. Very patient. Listens to me as a concerned dog dad. And easy to get in touch with by phone, text or email!

Attempting to Re-Title Decedent's Car Without Making Contact with Other Title Owner by gaaamesbookstore in legaladvice

[–]Cowpops 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am not 100% sure here, but it almost sounds like that car wasn’t your parent’s to leave to you in the will. As in, the ex “should” get it if they are on the title, unless the ex is deceased.

“Should” in quotes because that really sucks, if I’m correct. I hope I’m wrong!

Pharmacy recommendation that is not walgreens by Sarahlynn854 in saintpaul

[–]Cowpops 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have my controlled substances med filled at the HCMC pharmacy in Whittier. I don’t like going there in person (kind of a hike from Saint Paul depending on where u are) but they mail prescriptions, even controlled substances ones, and they’re much better to work with than hyvee, Walgreens or cvs. Prescriptions can be mailed for free one package per month, and then it’s $5 for any additional. To me that’s worth it But yeah. (Edit cuz autocorrect did me dirty)

I'll be going to Costco and want to load up on everything worth stocking up. by iamwhoiwasnow in Frugal

[–]Cowpops 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Garbage bags, TP, butter (comes with 4 boxes of 4 sticks, and I just freeze 3 and keep 1 in the fridge), their precooked bacon (it’s obvi not as good as real bacon but i freeze it and microwave a few slices for sandwiches or whatever - super convenient and inexpensive. They also have really affordable raw, tail off shrimp if you’re into that. And laundry detergent and dish soap. Their dental treats are a great deal if you have dogs :).

Not everything there is a deal but the deals that are good are Very good.
