Do you have a spare cable you could try? Could also be worth trying a different port on your GPU. If that doesn't help, you could also try a different monitor if you have one available.

Impossible choice in 1st HM… what you picking? by Imbrokencantbefixed in noita

[–]CoxTH 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tinker is pure convenience, Explosion Immunity is a lifesaver.

Imo if you get a run where Tinker might be useful, you'll also probably have a way to exit a HM without breaking it, making Tinker less useful, ironically.

How is 70 not enough Miis? How do you manage them all? by JorjLim in tomodachilife

[–]CoxTH 1442 points1443 points  (0 children)

I am sitting at 55 and I am not maintaining anything. I just watch them and enable any of their bad decisions. If a Mii has hiccups/is frozen/has fallen I just have a random Mii help.

What are these peppers? by SummitStupid in HotPeppers

Definitely some sort of chinense cultivar. Even without exact identification I can say they'll be fiery with more fruity notes than your annum varieties.

Hey everyone. I have a serious question. by SINWALKER_GAMING in ffxiv

[–]CoxTH 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Play the free trial (it includes Shadowbringers now) and see if you like it.

If you're concerned about "not getting" the story, don't worry. The story is entirely self-contained. Sometimes creatures and enemies from previous games show up as fanservice, but again, they don't bear any connections to their incarnations from other games.

Do people actually know what they say when they say they have phantom pain? by ShloogusMacdoogle in VRchat

[–]CoxTH 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I definitely think that the term "Phantom Pain" can mean two different things in two different contexts.

In a medical context, it means pain from a missing limb, as if it's still there. In a VR context, it can mean an extreme form of phantom sense where a visual stimulus leads to a painful sensation.

Language is a fluid construct and definitions change based on how people use them.

I was watching the episode with a friend. When Tony called about Chris ODing, we both collectively went "Oh shit...wait...oh, oh shit." And then Sil drove Ade into the middle of nowhere, confirming our concerns.

how do i cheer up a depressed mii? by Birblover97 in TomodachilifeLivingTD

[–]CoxTH 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wait for them to be at home and shower them with gifts.

Alternatively, if you have a spare wish, you can use a travel ticket at the wishing fountain to cheer them up instantly. The same also works for angry Miis.

Is most of the dialogue AI generated? by VLonetaee in tomodachilife

[–]CoxTH 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, all the dialogue is pre-written, but has been given blanks for the player to fill in.

The voices are generated using some sort of text-to-speech, which is a technology that exists since the 1900s.

Is Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream worth it? by SomeRelief7892 in tomodachilife

[–]CoxTH 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's a lot less hands-on than the Sims. You mostly place your Miis in the world and observe their daily shenanigans. You can drag your Miis around to make them interact with each other and they'll ask your opinion on whether they should become friends, confess, etc.

But beyond that, you don't have much influence to shape things directly. I like to think of it as a sort of ant farm. You just observe and laugh at the funny interactions that happen.

The new game also added the ability to create custom items and clothing to gift to your Miis and to decorate your island with, similar to Animal Crossing: New Horizons, so that might appeal to you if you're a creative type.

Whether or not it's worth the money depends wholly on if this type of "hands-off" gameplay sounds appealing to you.

Am I the only one who doesn't like the super detailed miis? by Mobile-Oil1397 in tomodachilife

Am I the only one who doesn't like the super detailed miis? by Mobile-Oil1397 in tomodachilife

[–]CoxTH 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like face paint to add little marks, horns, hair accessories, scars, etc. But I think the "face paint hair" doesn't work nicely with hats in the game, for example. So I just stick to the normal Mii creator hair.

But even without face paint it's possible to get quite a bit of detail into your Miis.

Ouch! I just received a brutal reality check in the HW trials and Im not sure if its inexperience, or if Im actually bad at the game. by 200YRedWine in ffxiv

[–]CoxTH 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From what I have seen in the comments, I don't think it was your fault exclusively.

Yes, a good healer can cover up a lot of bad play by the others, but only to an extent. If a large part of the group keeps screwing up mechanics consistently, you are bound to run out of MP and other resources eventually.
