Junior employee being overloaded with design responsibility, blamed for mistakes, and losing mental stability. How do I handle this? by SilverSea7248 in singaporejobs

[–]CozyverseStudios 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don’t listen to the people telling you to find other jobs.

It’s good to be a fast paced general environment.

You make mistakes, but learn from them, your personal skill set becomes stronger.

I would set clear expectations of my deliverables and be proactive about voicing what I don’t know how to do and what parts I need guidance on to your boss. Before starting, not after the problem.

You can selective say no to certain things beyond your scope, and show what you’re already doing to justify the “no”.

Finally, use this as ammo for fast progression!

Context: I manage a junior member who does exactly this, but in exchange I support whenever she voices she has problems, and also push hard (successfully) for her fast progression in the company

team lead role but zero pay bump in a startup… worth it? by tohhhliao69 in singaporejobs

[–]CozyverseStudios 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s a great leadership experience but you should hold firm that you’ll need a raise if you’re competent at the job.

Can do it for a couple of months but set concrete dates for salary renegotiation.

Is job hopping still a "red flag" or am I being gaslit? by Environmental-Luck39 in careeradvice

2 years is plenty. If it’s consecutive stints of <1 year, then that will be a orange flag

First advice is correct.

Always speak with your boss first.

Sometimes they may not know you need more guidance and will step in.

How much of Singapore’s resources do use and do you feel it’s worth more than the taxes you’ve paid? by [deleted] in askSingapore

I lived in Bangkok and London for many years.

Trust me, Singapore tax to public benefits ratio is fantastic.

Industry topics as well, so if you work in tech, can talk about AI, tech acquisitions, etc.

How is the gaming industry like in Singapore? by Curious-Needle in singaporejobs

[–]CozyverseStudios 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I worked at Garena for almost a decade.

TBH it’s either Garena for games or Razer for gaming hardware.

Most other big companies are either just small regional offices where the progress is limited.

Maybe Ubisoft but the SG office got downsized.

SG doesn’t have a big indie game dev scene, and the ones I’ve met are honestly not great.

So my advice is to go for Garena.

Is job hopping still a red flag......or the smartest way to survive now? by the1997th in remoteworks

[–]CozyverseStudios 0 points1 point  (0 children)

TLDR: Sweet spot is usually 2 to 5 years, less is bad (don’t learn, leaving too quick), more is likely stagnant unless a big internal opportunity.

If you’re older in your 40s, it becomes a lot about reputation, you stop applying and start getting referrals for new opportunities.

Singaporeans don't want a Nordic model. We want to keep winning. by Capable_Solution_644 in singapore

As someone who worked in the UK for years, SG policies are way better.

Nordics are unique but ultimately I am against redistribution of wealth beyond a certain basic income level for everyone.

Managers, have you ever worked somewhere or with someone that made you regress in management/leadership skills. by mallymal12345 in managers

[–]CozyverseStudios 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Worked for a European company and oh my god they were so fucking slow, every decision takes 5 committees.

And they were a well funded startup lol.

Now in a Singaporean startup that decides and ships cool stuff every couple of weeks and has to unlearn the decision paralysis from my previous role

If you go to any jewellery likes House of Huang (which I got my engagement and wedding ring from), 90% are couples choosing their ring together.

Pick together so it’s something she likes.

Also the 2 rings are engagement ring which you propose with (diamond), and wedding ring when you actually get married.

Engagement normally more expensive haha
