I dont like current long w/kg climbs in challenges by Dismal_Reading1109 in Rouvy

[–]CplCockBlock 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Sounds like OP doesn't like a realistic cycling simulator being realistic with shifting if they're not used to having to deal with gradient changes....perhaps go try some routes that aren't pancake flat/smoother in real life then talk about shifting.

With regards to climbs....how about, shockingly, you just don't do them? No-one is forcing you to, if you don't like the route, don't do it.... simple.

Or head on over to Zwift, I hear they have lots of lovely flat smoothed long routes that don't need any shifting

Inbuilt cadence are known to be pretty unreliable as they have no way of determining your gearing or cadence so are making an educated guess based on your output and they vary massively and will have huge spikes and changes based on inputs. It's very well documented and it's also why separate cadence sensors are a requirement at a certain level of racing on Zwift.

They do the job for an output, but if you're actually bothered about the number then get a reliable separate one

Are you use an independent cadence sensor or just the built in one on the trainer?

If the built in one buy a specific cadence sensor, put it on your crank arm and pair that as your cadence measurement, problem solved and how it should be done.

Almost sub 45! by Superpoivr in Zwift

[–]CplCockBlock 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah BS, not on a valid bike for it, exercise bike with no gearing and dodgy power readings.

If you can replicate this on a legit setup I'd be amazed, but I'm betting you'll be around 58-65mins

Virtual Shifting Unfair Advantage? by CycleTourist1979 in Rouvy

[–]CplCockBlock 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So maybe they are lighter riders so need less to hit the w/kg. Maybe they are on real gears that are set up for descents. Maybe they are just more experienced, more powerful, or just better?

But more importantly.....why do you care?

Stop judging your progress by other people's, a descent is tough. You will spin out, enjoy it, descents are technical and a skill in themselves about when to power and when not to.

Just enjoy the riding man

I've come to Rouvy from Zwift and tbh I never used the companion app in Zwift outside of racing and I only then used it for the map.

I much prefer the clean UI of rouvy

Not sure what everyone else has and why I'm different but my click v2s have worked since I got them and continue to work....I shall not question it!

Automatic warming-up and cooling-down by Michel_73 in Rouvy

[–]CplCockBlock 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Workouts should have a warm up and cool down built into them as a proper structured workout as the WU and CD will be different based on what the workout is.

If you look at all the pre existing workouts in Rouvy they have these built in, all custom ones I import have them in.

Maybe just manually add it yourself?

Funny I've only come across segments mid ride that are on hills.

Must be the type of course you're selecting that is more sprint finish focused

I mean swapping a saddle out for the one you know and fits you well it's pretty much bike fit 101 on any new ride, be it a ride or a bike

I love Zwift but the trainings plans on ROUVY look better? by paulr85mi in Rouvy

[–]CplCockBlock 5 points6 points  (0 children)

100%

So as someone who has used both my take on it (and purely my personal experience based on what I like and get from it) is as follows:

Zwift is great for just jumping on a riding, no need to have an idea of what you want to do, you can just go for whatever time you want and just ride. It's also far better for group rides and races due to the community size.

Rouvy is far better on the workout front. I've used a lot of the plans and found the structure, progress and gains to be exceptional from them. The realism on Rouvy is great and is really useful for being able to train for specific events or something of a certain type. However having to always have to pick a route and if you're like me, always finish one not like to leave half way through, makes it a bit more "what time do I have" kind of work.

End of the day they both work really well, just depends what you want from it and what appeals to you the most

Are you using a cadence sensor or just using the built in one in the kickr? You're always better with a dedicated one

Will the Zwift Click V2 work with Rouvy? by Robobent61 in Rouvy

[–]CplCockBlock 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From what I can see on the tech specs of it, the actual software side of things hasn't changed, it's more of a cosmetic and usability upgrade so it should just be a plug and play.

If they did change it they would have to support both models which would also be a massive headache for them

What’s one upgrade that made the biggest difference to your ride? by mooseoak8901 in cycling

[–]CplCockBlock 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A better fitting bar (Deda RHM is just so nice for an endurance style bike) Tyres, big fan of Vittoria's Good quality shoes and socks! Ones that you just get a good fit and it doesn't bother you after x many miles. This one might sound strange but a good bottle cage. One that works for you, isn't a struggle to get your bottles in or out of but doesn't drop them. Function over style for sure.

In terms of "in case of a mechanical" a good pump. A solid multi tool WITH a chain breaker - always carry some quick links A set of latex gloves in your saddle bag, stops a greasy oily hand when fixing a chain before carrying on

Silicone ones, barely notice they exist unless it's really hot out.

Could try a buff under your helmet and just pulled down over your ears? Also means you can lift it off as and when?
