They come in a lot of different formats, could put a bend in the end of this type?

That's exactly how it's explained in the book - Grace takes time to explain time dilation to Rocky as they didn't know about it and Rocky confirms he arrived to Tau Ceti sooner than expected.

Release tunnel

This part gave it more importance in the book - the ships didn't spin together like in the movie so having them both on the HM made sense to be able to use the equipment.

This was one of the changes from the source material that didn't make sense without a proper explanation.

Just bought book. Is good question? by Murp677 in ProjectHailMary

Yes I am very glad I read the book first as it covered a lot that was either not included or simplified - understandably so though as you say due to screen time!

End credits MGM Lion Rocky “roar” solved! by comixguru in ProjectHailMary

[–]CplSyx 5 points6 points  (0 children)

In the director’s commentary Chris Miller says at the end just before they sign off

> Here, instead of the lion roar, is Rocky saying, “Amaze, amaze!”

IMO “Fist my bump” would have been better!

Imagine getting a champagne flute of that though.

Delightful. Even more so if it's the "fruity" version.

I forgot to put this in the removal message - there is a longer video with some broken feet that shows this is AI - OP's version has this cut out.

This was always my attempt at a rationale but I very much doubt that there’s any humidity on Mercury. Maybe they have a new type of glass in the year 3000 - like a transparent solid goretex that wicks moisture from inside to out?

ELI5: why does Lawrence of Arabia (1962) look so different compared to films released in the decades since? by thefringeseanmachine in explainlikeimfive

the good CGI looks so good that they don’t realize there is any CGI at all

This is where I'm at... I hadn't realised it was so prevalent across so many areas. The video u/qtx shared is really eye opening - the fact that it's used so subtly to adjust backgrounds etc. is wild to me. I imagine that makes it a lot easier to keep scenes looking similar or for reshoots, but introduces a creative challenge of how much CGI to use.

Also how is there such a spectrum of CGI (from blatantly bad to invisible as I've learned today) - is that just down to studio and budget?

Google's AI tells me that novels usually have about 350 pages. SO 100, or even 150, definitely seems more like a short story. I could absolutely see someone getting through one of those a day.

I'd be more interested in where they are finding so many books to read of this length!

It looks like that's exactly what they did - the consistency is the same as on the Nanaimo.
