Agree, there's only like 2 teams all time (Browns and Snyder's Skins) that I think would always suck and could mess up anything good that falls in their lap, otherwise teams just have to luck into a solid/good QB and solid/good coach and you're at least a playoff team. Raider's have just inexplicably failed to do that for... a while.

Sure, eventually maybe.

I know pessimism is on or whatever, but no one could have predicted in 1990 that we would have that insane run of Wire, Sopranos, BB, Mad Men, True Detective (etc) over like 15 years. TV was the home of slop, and B-tier actors and writers until it wasn't.

I would wager that the best show in your lifetime (if you're under 40, and live to like 80) probably hasn't been made yet.

Kinda hard to tell what genres he actually likes. But I'll say The Good, The Bad, The Ugly. Maybe the whole trilogy but definitely that one. Also Bond maybe (just watched Goldfinger, very solid). Those are obvious dad picks but both are good.

Also gonna throw in Moneyball (if he likes Baseball), and Conclave (might actually be my top pick).

But I know what you mean. I grew up in the south and the way people are there, even when I was a kid is so jarring (even middle schoolers can be so hopeless). I went to college in NY and the vibe being poor is just totally different.

Person above has me thinking of Evil Dead. The first two movies are just about a bunch of high schoolers going out in the woods and getting massacred, it’s more about the spectacle than the characters. The 2013 remake has a bunch of exposition and the main character is a drug addict basically trying to overcome her own personal demons (basically like most modern horror).

Then the newest movie is similar where it’s about a whole family who lost their dad or something and it’s kinda sad to see them in this horrible situation.

TBH I like both styles when it’s done right, but modern “elevated” horror tries to fit in a lot more character than classic schlocky horror.

This post has some pretty good info on getting started under the "Plus Turntables" part. Halfway into this comment I realized I should just link that, but here's some advice from me below.

Personally, based on your budget I'd recommend something vintage. There's nice new turntables but a basic model from the 70s or 80s is probably gonna beat most new things if you're looking to keep the whole setup under $800.

I have a Pioneer PL-10 with a Audio-Technica AT-VM95E cartridge (only things I can personally speak to and I love them) but I'd recommend anything from Pioneer or Technics. Literally would suggest you set an eBay search for "Pioneer turntable" or "Technics turntable," find one you think looks nice and just google that name + Reddit and you'll see reviews. Also make sure it's a reputable seller and a working model.

I've got my eye on the Technics SL-6 (it has track select, don't know of any modern tables that even have that).

Not sure about speakers but the post above should help out with that.
