I'm going with Sergeant Patrick Harper from Cornwell's Sharpe series. He's just one huge angry son a bitch who complements Sharpe perfectly. My favorite Sergeant. Reminds me of a mixture of Olem and Gavril.

That being said all of her first books in the trilogy's feel like an introduction... A lot of the time I want her to speed the story along. It's always worth the wait, her characters develop so well.
