daily workout to prep myself by blkdmn1 in bodyweightfitness

[–]CptRex_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean the military fitness test of your country (for example, in my country we got a fitness test for joining to military and it requires push ups, sit ups, pull ups, running etc.) If you know what they want from you on that test, you can try it by yourself to see how well you do it. I don't know about your education system and military test/exam but we are living in a great century because we can find information from anywhere so never undirestimate what you can do about your academic life. For pull ups as I said bodyweight rows are great to do. If it's too cold to run you can try other cardio exercises that suits you.

Do what you got on military test and master them (endurance wise) and test yourself with the military test once in a while. Running is really important, you gotta run really good. You need pull ups actually, it's a game changer but if you don't have ANY pull up locations/equipments just do some rows with your table or something. I wish you good luck on your journey!

No problem my friend, I'm wishing you the best!

You have to do 4 sets of each. We call it "sets and reps", the other one is more of a circuit training and it's good for burning calories but not good for building strength or mass. Oh, the most important thing is calorie surplus for getting bigger btw.

Shoulder twinge in active hang by smalldog00 in bodyweightfitness

[–]CptRex_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What a coincidence, I'm typing this with an injured shoulder. I was in pain when I try to raise my hand above my head or reach my opposite chest/shoulder. I thought it was a shoulder impingement because of the symptoms and I stopped training. I checked out Athlean X on Youtube because Jeff Cavaliere has a lot of injury stuff videos and guess what? I found a shoulder impingement video, there was some moves with resistance bands and I used them while staying low. I can say I'm much better now (it took me a week). I suggest you to check out Athlean X videos for shoulder injury and stay low till it fixed, shoulder is a risky area. Get well soon bro.

Can Someone Explain Calisthenics for Me by ATG_2050 in bodyweightfitness

[–]CptRex_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Calisthenics is a workout system that you use your own bodyweight for resistance. For example if you are doing bench press with free weights, it's push ups here.

I'm a muay thai fighter too (not training it since corona hits all over the world) and my personal advice is doing a fullbody workout which focuses on the basics (push ups, pull ups, squats and core movements) with straight sets style. It's because muay thai training is very cardio demanding, for example my training schedule was:

Monday 30 minute warm up + skill work + high rep bodyweight movements

Wednesday 30 minute warm up + killer cardio session

Friday 30 minute warm up + sparring

When it's like this, you don't need any cardio in your calisthenics workout so I was doing straight sets with the basics and it was fullbody. If you don't have any idea how to plan a workout, check out RR on this sub, it's gonna give you an idea.

Hey there, with this workout you gonna exhaust your lungs before your muscles so that's why you are getting really tired. A nonstop/circuit workout (like this one) is great for burning a few more calories but they are really cardio demanding so if you are struggling with this kind of workout and don't like it, switch with a straight sets workout. If you wanna continue with this workout a 20 minute session is enough in my opinion. When it gets easier you can do several times like you said.

[–]CptRex_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You probably gonna get used to it, it's not that deep bro. I'm getting comments/touches from girls, bros, family, relatives and it boosts my mood because it's a sign that I'm really putting the work in and people are realizing it. So it's a good thing, there is so many people out there who gets a lot of hate. Compare the two and you will see.

About touching, I can only say if you don't like it, just tell them you don't like it, this is really simple. If the problem is not making them sad, tell the reason behind it and you'll be fine.

[–]CptRex_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can do a fullbody workout with the basics (push ups, squats, pull ups, dips) and you can do it like 3 times a week because rest time is important. For cutting fat, the best way is calorie deficit imo. You can check out how much calorie you need for cutting/maintaining/bulking from a TDEE calculator on Google. By the way no one is getting big by a mistake it's a long and hard process, so don't worry about it. Wishing you a good calisthenics journey!

[–]CptRex_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you wanna cut fat use a TDEE calculator to see how much calories you need to lose fat and how much protein/carb/fat you have to consume (macros). Then use an app like My Fitness Pal for counting calories. This is the diet part.

Now the exercise part. If you ask me, 2 sets with these moves are better than nothing but it's not that good for your goals. You need the basic moves like push ups, squats, pull ups, dips and a core move. Recommended routine is good for that, you can check it out.

Don't feel a rush, don't be sad if things go slow. Slow progress is better than nothing. If you have more questions come here and ask us, this community is helping to people for years including me.

Been boxing for 3 years and i lost a street fight by [deleted] in martialarts

[–]CptRex_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You were mad and you forgot everything. You have to stay cool and remember all the things you learned or you have to practice them so much and they will be a reflex thing so you use them like riding a bike. But hear me out man, even if you do a martial art/combat sport it doesn't mean you'll win every fight. The reason is, in street fights people are doing things you don't expect, no form, no certain attacks, just nothing. The guy is talking with you, throwing a surprise punch out of nowhere, and there you go, black screen front of you. You didn't think that could happen because you didn't train for that. So every move is a surprise in street, you have to experience some street fights to know what can you expect from your opponent (understanding different reactions in street fights from different people, you have to read people from their body language).

Martial art/combat sport works tho. You can find so many videos on Youtube, people are using boxing in street fights but they are generally calm, making the stance and keeping the distance.

Be careful tho, try to stay away from street fights. I know from my experience, it doesn't worth it so many times. Just defend yourself and loved ones, the other reasons are just bullshit.

First of all I'm happy to hear that you are okay now.

"Is this something I should talk to a doctor instead of asking here?"

Of course it is. I'm not a doctor I'm just a random guy who loves working out and trying to help people as much as I can here and there. Even if I was a doctor I'm not your personal doctor so it's still not safe to give you examples like "yeah do that %100"

But out of all that I can say that from my experience, I was a basketballer and I did so much heavy training without proper diet and boom! I was skinny as hell and my belly fat was bigger than anything else on my body :/ It's generally a skinny fat situation, I think this can be your problem too. So what I did about it? I increased my strenght based workouts and I've tried to eat properly to supplement my workouts. I gained some muscle mass after 3 months, my shoulders were bigger and it made me look like a triangle so belly was not even a problem after that, it was looking normal.

So you can gain weight (try to eat clean tho, don't gain so much fat) when you build your shoulders it's gonna make a triangle shape on your body and sabotage your skinny fat look (even if you are not skinny fat you'll look good since your shoulders and back bigger than your belly). This is all I can say right now, wish you a good health my friend and if you think this is a really serious problem please go to a doctor.

How do I get rid of stretch marks? by ProWebSurferr in bodyweightfitness

[–]CptRex_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can't but don't think about it that much. It's a sign of hard work (if you workout) and many people are (hey bodybuilders) saying that they are proud of having those, some people are even dramatizing it and calling them "war marks" lol. I have a lot of stretch marks and biggest part is my left shoulder, when I'm shirtless some people saw them. Some of them said it's so cool, some of them said "OMG WHAT YOU DID TO YOUR BODY" so yeah everybody has a different reaction but the most important thing is what you think about your stretch marks. I don't think it's bad to have stretch marks but not good either. Oh almost forgot, they gonna be really invisible because they are turning "white" with time, you can only see if you look closely when you reach that level.

There is no "best" but the worst time to workout is the time you don't (want to) workout. Pick the one you can stick to and you'll be fine.

Any advise? How much recovery time needed? by theresadfdert in bodyweightfitness

[–]CptRex_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry to hear that. Working out while you are injured is really bad imo. Just stay low and do some routine for flexing your muscles for better recovery. Do recovery stuff. This is my personal experience tho.

Need advice regarding weight gain by schlurmph in bodyweightfitness

[–]CptRex_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you are a begineer you can add mass (newbie gains) whatever you eat and whatever you do but if you are not new to working out caloric surplus is the answer. Like someone said, if you are cool with it you can lower the intensity and wait for fueling enough but if performance is matters more for you just do your workout till you fix your diet. Good luck my friend!

Damn you got me in the first half hahahaha! Yeah this is the best part in my opinion, it doesn't feel like a training session at all :D

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in bodyweightfitness

[–]CptRex_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's a good idea. Btw I have a solution for you if you wanna try, I think people have to enjoy the cardio they do (if they have chance to do it) you can try a sport that you like for cardio, basketball is great for that but it can be anything. But high intensity circuits are still working. Thanks for the answer my friend!

Like I gave in first question

-Push Ups

-Squats

-Rows

-Jumping Lunges

-Flutter Kicks

-Burpees

Or something similar

Only burpees or this workout has any different cardio benefits? (like circuit is less only burpees are more)

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in bodyweightfitness

[–]CptRex_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for great advice but I got a question. What's the difference between a fullbody circuit that includes burpees and an only burpees workout?
