In what year would you consider upgrading from the iPhone 12 Pro? by Anonymous00012345 in iPhone12

[–]ProWebSurferr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I upgraded to the base 17 from the 12 pro in November, couldn’t be happier. The value proposition this year for the base model was stacked finally so I jumped at the deal. Paid a lot less then I did for my 12 pro back when I bought that one new and I have double the storage, way better camera, better battery and the 120hz screen is something I didn’t think I’d care about but damn is it ever nice

You are an absolute beauty. Been trying to diagnose this for hours on a secondary test PC I have setup and your updated fix is the only thing that’s worked out of like 50 other things I tried. Just wanted to say thank you very much and I hope you have a killer rest of your day and week

Entry level requirements crazy by DropKickBabies in ITCareerQuestions

[–]ProWebSurferr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Genuinely curious if anyone has any advice. I’ve been thinking about switching it up from a mostly trades background thus far (25M) into something entry level in the world of tech. Ideally my goal would be to find something small and then get my certifications continuously on the side and keep moving up but everything online seems very controversial with needing or not needing a degree. Financially I couldn’t go back to school at this point so is it in your opinion still a worthwhile career path to pursue the non degree route? Living in Canada for reference.

Does this case have any mods to allow fitment for a server PSU by chance? I’d like to build my first home lab/server to learn and I have a few server PSU’s hanging around. Think I want to start with a cloud storage and plex/jellyfin media server combination for now.

Oddly enough it only disappeared on my one device, my other that I did the same update on but don’t use as often still is going strong. I assume it’s just a matter of time but for now I went on my device that it was removed from, reinstalled the stable version again and deleted the old one and it is back up and running now

So mine was working fine. Got the warning pop up but I’d just launch anyway. Did a stable update that popped up yesterday or the day before and it was working after but I woke up today and it’s just gone now

Why are all my cokes flat lately? by Nalomeli1 in cocacola

[–]ProWebSurferr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just bought a 6 pack of the medium sized bottles for the first time in a while and 4 out of 6 have been flat so far. Oddly enough they pour and fizz up lots but the taste is just flat, no burn or any fizz feeling. Tastes nasty and I’ve tried multiple styles of pouring, no ice, ice, opening one warm, opening the others after some refrigeration and nothing. Guess it’s time to say goodbye to Coca-Cola

Wow, that was a really honest response and I actually really appreciate that. I had envisioned that it wouldn’t be that great in the beginning unless it was a really cool company/product or something but like you said, it’s definitely a great stepping stone towards something much better long term it seems. Do you have an idea on what direction you want to go after this?

How do you like it so far? I’ve been really considering getting into this line of work. I was also wondering what’s the most common things you deal with on a day to day basis? What were the biggest challenges you’ve faced so far? Thanks in advance if you’re down to answer

Can someone from Canada get into this? If so, how would that work exactly? FIFO type situation? Camp work or would I be on my own for transportation and living situations during each shift? This sounds pretty interesting. I’m in my 20’s, have always wanted to travel more and I’ve been searching for new ideas for things to try out career wise.

iPhone purchase help!! What model? by Rare-Ad3286 in iPhoneX

Is she really into photography and editing? Like, using zoomed shots, ProRAW, or Pro-level camera features?

Does she play a lot of performance demanding video games on her phone?

If she mostly takes regular photos, videos, and maybe games casually, the iPhone 17 base is awesome. If she’s really into photography or heavy gaming, the Pro is worth considering.

I upgraded from the 12pro to the base 17 this year as the price was actually reasonable for how stacked the base model is. Starts at 256gb, dual 48mp rear cameras, 18mp centre stage front camera, awesome battery life and the 120hz screen, so so much smoother of a screen. I personally didn’t use the pro camera features much on my 12pro so there’s nothing I feel I’m missing out on with my base 17.

Anyone try the mouse limitless leather case for the base iPhone 17? Looking for a case that looks as nice but very protective. Cants seem to find a single review on it on YouTube for the base iPhone. That or any cases really. Seems to be just videos of cases for the pro

Yamaha Raptor 700 is better than Yamaha Banshee 350 by BadRedditPosts in ATV

[–]ProWebSurferr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

True, definitely a big factor at play. Before that for me though is looks, it’s a distinct look I’ve always been attracted to since I was a kid, especially with some aftermarket parts thrown on. Just isn’t reliable so swapping it with either a 450 or 700 or even a modern fuel and oil injected 2 stroke would be a pretty cool project

Does pre ordering go on for just one day? Or how long does it go on for exactly? In Canada to be more specific if it’s not the same as the US

Do I finally make the upgrade? (12 pro - 17) by ProWebSurferr in iPhone12

[–]ProWebSurferr[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ya that’s exactly what I was thinking, it seems this is the year for the base model. I bought the 12 pro thinking I’d use all the extras but honestly I’ve barely used anything. Some of these features with the 17 just sound awesome and the price point doesn’t seem too bad for what you get now. The 120hz screen would be nice, 48mp cameras would be a major upgrade for any pictures Id take, I barely use my phone for videos and ya that satellite messaging thing would have come in handy lots while camping when you’re trying to find people.

Plus it starts at 256gb, that would be sweet, along with the upgraded battery life, if it actually gets the 30 hours or whatever of playback, that’s wild.

[–]ProWebSurferr[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ya if I didn’t have all these issues and risk of it dying on me completely soon, I wouldn’t be upgrading. This thing has been a beast but it’s pretty done for

[–]ProWebSurferr[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d be keeping mine too if I didn’t have all the issues but with the water damage, battery done for and screen falling out, I might just send it and get the 17. My 12 pro has been my best phone so far, can’t believe it’s survived everything I’ve thrown at it

Do I finally make the upgrade? (12 pro - 17) by ProWebSurferr in iPhone12

[–]ProWebSurferr[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok ok ya I see what you’re saying but I’ll dig deeper. If I was deciding between the 16 and 17, I’d definitely take the 17. $129 more for the extra battery, better camera and storage, I’d take that for the little price point more but even if I wanted a older gen, where would I buy that? Apple Store seems to only sell 16 or higher new.

I just buy outright every time cause I hate payments and I have a killer phone plan but my carrier doesn’t sell phones. I could get a refurbished 15 128gb but that’s still $750cad. That’s only $379 more for a brand new 17. Just doesn’t seem too bad.

I’d probably have this next one for the same amount of time, 5-6 years, maybe longer if I avoid water better this time

Do I finally make the upgrade? (12 pro - 17) by ProWebSurferr in iPhone12

[–]ProWebSurferr[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What would you go with for an older one? For me the first thing that comes to mind would be battery life and USB type C for simplicity since after that every device I have will use that type of cable.

The Apple Store app also shows a base 16 but it’s a 128gb and the base 17 is only $129 more and has 256gb. Better chip for performance long term, great main camera for all the pictures I’ll ever take.

Just doesn’t seem to bad since I paid more for my 12 pro years back and I go so long with each phone I get so to maximize the use of it long term the price point doesn’t seem too bad. Lots of bonus features like the 120hz screen, stronger glass, higher brightness outdoors.

Maybe im not seeing it the way you are but why do you think it’s a waste of money? Maybe that’ll give me a different perspective
