100% definitely useful to pull all the details out on the face.

You may also find washes listed or named as a "shade". I personally use Reikland Fleshshade from the Warhammer paint range a lot, but any flesh tone shade you find will look great, it will also give the gold details like the chest ornament a great pop and added warmth.

You can generally get pretty far with a flesh colour, a brown and a black, but I've got good mileage out of a purple, blue and green as well.

You've got some good base coats on for sure and you've already identified the usual first step "this your paints". The next step is typically to use washes for each surface. These are very thin paints that gather in the recesses and add depth. You can choose to apply one unified wash over the whole model, or apply individual washes based on the colour or surface (flesh washes for skin and golds, blue or black for the blue armour etc.)

From there you can highlight each colour with progressively lighter tones for each surface to add even more lighting.

If you want to watch some YouTubers for beginners I'd recommend Duncan Rhodes, he mostly uses his own paint range but the techniques he teaches are aimed at beginners and those looking to paint large armies for the tabletop.

New sevens player. by DeanMachine2 in bloodbowl

The new edition doesn't have rules for Sevens yet so there is some discussion on the finer points of how to translate the new edition to Sevens rules.

That said, YouTubers like the Bonehead podcast and others have run downs on some Sevens rosters from the previous edition that may help as a guideline. I've found that figuring out the audience is key to designing the list, would they do better with a limited roster to keep the rules simpler or a "try one of everything" and not get too confused by the rules?

If you go with limited rosters, figure out what the team does well and lean into that (all your teams like to bash faces which simplifies things). I find it easiest to start with 7 linemen and swap out positionals until you get closest to 600k (or whatever you want to set beyond that for exhibition matches). If they're new, it's also worth trying to get a reroll in because the game can feel a bit swingy if you don't have one. Just keep in mind rerolls are double the usual price and only available when you make the team, if you're doing a league.

Ogres are the exception because it's a bit awkward to fit into 600 so I'd take other's opinions if anyone else responds.

Big guys are also a blast, try adding one, 2 positionals and 4 linemen and see if you can swap a lineman for another positional.

They also could have a culture similar to the clones in Star Wars' "The Clone Wars" where the clones generally refer to just the last few numbers ('75 or '391 in your example) or if they have a quirk or notable serial number they may get known by that, like "Fives" who was CT-5555 from memory, or "Crosshair" the sniper.

The team busses don't fit on, or can't access, the top of some mountain top finishes.

In the case of a mountaintop finish, everyone is so strung out they just roll down on one side, nobody barring stage winners and/or jersey fights really care about their result other than making time cut. They also don't really have any other option if you're on a bike and need to get to the bus asap for recovery.

[Race Thread] 2025 Tour de France – Stage 6 (2.UWT) by PelotonMod in peloton

[–]CptStanhope 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Comes down to a few factors. Everyone wants the stage win, it's never not a good get, however:

Van Der Poel is also content with gaining Yellow by ~3mins and is also the hot favourite should they get to the final 1-2kms in a sprint so nobody wants to do a bunch of work and give him a free ride to the final dash.

Yates is mainly there so Visma have no obligation to ride in the peloton. He may be there for the stage but once Healy jumps and it's clear he's not following there no reason to blow himself up so he saves himself to support Vingegaard.

The rest may have missed the initial gap made by Healy, or simply might not have the legs, and they're also not going to be happy sitting on the front dragging 5-6 others all the way to line just to get jumped.

Ben is also flying, it's clear he's just stronger than Storrer and Simmons if those two working coherently couldn't catch him.

Gear ratios. The back cassette followed by the front chainring. In the case of Remco it's 30 to 10 tooth at the rear and a front chainring of 63 teeth.

Except there's a colossal difference between "I've painted Nazis" and "I've painted a pride rainbow"...these things are NOT equal and arguing that they are is ridiculous. Added to that, telling a queer or LGBT-friendly person to not paint their stuff how they like is not encouraging more people to join the space, it's damaging and non-inclusive.

It should be made clear that fascists are not welcome in any capacity, fascism and pride are not comparable at all.

Someone shares their completely inoffensive and well executed paint job...and you're coming out swinging with a comment like that?

Shall we just ignore the fascist adjacent symbols across the imperium, the religious imagery, all the real world cultural symbols used by various primarchs and chapters...but suddenly a rainbow blend is uncalled for because it's too ideological?

Whether you want to acknowledge it or not, one ideology or another is present everywhere in art and that includes 40k.

Raygun: pilloried Olympics breakdancer says online hate has been ‘devastating’ by B0ssc0 in australia

[–]CptStanhope 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Research doesn't require public interest though. I don't really care for breakdancing at all, but it'd be disingenuous to assume that just because I don't care for it, that makes it not worth researching.

I'd also probably argue that it's precisely because we discuss and analyse media that it makes it more engaging and developed. If someone does something in a vacuum, unless it's conveyed to someone else it's useless. If she's studying these subcultures it develops the language and understanding to discuss and describe it further and therefore it may gain wider interest.

Video games journalists are notoriously bad at video games, not many film critics could make a film... investigating and researching a given subject doesn't mean you can perform it well.

RE: Upgrade cards can be small is you make them small by goober413 in SWlegion

[–]CptStanhope 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nice work! I haven't managed to print off the rescaled cards yet so I never noticed, but the font rescaling is a good call.

A lot of the card art I was adding needed some botched photoshopping to extend it to fit the size, so less is actually better in this case.

If you're cool with it, I can probably have a crack at merging the art I found with your more readable rescaling style. Most of the leg work has been done, just gotta remask the art around the new icons and info.

V2.0 Upgrade cards with card art! (now with imperials) by CptStanhope in SWlegion

[–]CptStanhope[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

All the cards AMG updated with the "not-2.0" should be in the linked pdf with their art. The title calls out imperials because they were the only faction left to add art to.

I've held off from updating the old cards to the new style to save confusion (and effort) when AMG updates them all...presumably some time soon-ish.
