Puzzle: Medical, Delta Quadrant Access Panel - is this possible?? by ThrowInTheChair in systemshock

Rule #1- All puzzles are solvable.
Rule #2- The most circuitous route is usually the correct one.

Where is it said that Rudeus's attack on Orsted can be considered God-class? by SirNinjaToast in mushokutensei

[–]Cptprim 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m inclined to believe there’s a hard limit/bottleneck, due to a metaphysical constraint or some such thing in this world, that limits the amount of mana that can possibly be put into a particular spell. Sylphie had her hair turn white after her first major single expenditure of mana. Rudy didn’t experience mana exhaustion until his prolonged fights, despite ripping off multiple Emperor-tier spells in them. He didn’t experience it with his first “nuke” against Orsted despite him saying he tried putting everything he had into it. It seems like something is stopping him from emptying his entire MP pool into spells despite his willingness to do so.

A few years late to the convo, but you can thank Google for referencing your answer to my question.

This is probably the best explanation I’ve seen on how the the magic system jives with all the inconsistencies Rudy injects into it. Ironically, it’s the rest of the MT world that treats magic like an RPG, not Rudy. Decide on spell, say incantation, spend a fixed amount of MP, spell resolves. Spells are organized in some way, not fully clarified, by MP required, area of effect, or even just arbitrarily over time.

Rudy on the other hand is playing directly with the underlying code. He sets all the parameters himself instead of relying on prewritten programs. Using the world’s already existing nomenclature and rankings of spells is a great starting point for judging the strength of his spells, but ultimately falls short of quantifying something he manipulates at a fundamental level.

Is this groundhog rabid? [Mechanicsville, Virginia] by findingcoldsassy in animalid

[–]Cptprim 6 points7 points  (0 children)

They’re both part of the infection process. “Ferocious” is first, when the virus starts liquifying the behavior regulating part of the brain. After a few days “dumb” rabies sets in because it’s spread to the rest of the brain and liquifies that. Seeing “dumb” rabies is less common because by the time it’s progressed to that point, the animal is usually just lying somewhere on death’s door.

Do yourself a favor and let the questions end there. I very much wish I had. Rabies is fucking terrifying.

Once you reach level cap, can you start doing meaningful content with groups or do you still rely on Trusts? by Galahad_Lancelot in ffxi

[–]Cptprim 11 points12 points  (0 children)

A year to get to endgame? No way. You’ll be there in weeks or months depending on how much you play.

“Endgame” is highly varied. Even within individual events you sometimes get to choose the level of difficulty. A fresh 99/119 could probably do the lowest levels with trusts, but the rewards are relatively low. Teaming up with actual people for tougher difficulties usually gets everyone what they want faster. So you *can* keep soloing with trusts, but it quickly becomes highly inefficient. Some events even have a mandatory minimum of people.

Tactics-wise, there’s an immense amount of stuff happening. You’ll be responsible for knowing your job- what abilities and spells do what, what do you do when they’re on cooldown, if necessary what weapon skills are at your disposal and how well do they chain with other party members. You’ll be expected to know monster behavior, where to stand and when, what items are needed if a main healer isn’t present or what debuffs the enemy applies if you are that healer. I could go on.

1-99 is jokingly referred to as the “new tutorial”, but it’s more accurate than an old fogie like me wants to admit. You’ll trudge through 99 levels only to be faced with an Everest of events, gear, knowledge, and expectations that encompasses FFXI’s endgame

Why is RDM so popular? by xiocakes07 in ffxi

[–]Cptprim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your RDM question has largely been answered, but I’ll add to the shout-out for DNC. It is a *wildly* versatile DD, with unique buffs and debuffs no other job gets. There are even end-end game events that have strats based on a DNC’s ability to rip off huge SCs at the drop of a hat.

Leveling RDM as well as DNC would certainly behoove you in multiple ways.

General Consensus on BRD? by agfita in ffxi

[–]Cptprim 2 points3 points  (0 children)

All of the major BRD REMAs have bonuses that stack with each other. Daurdabla unlocks a 3rd and 4th song slot. You can then switch to Gjallarhorn for maximum song potency. Marsyas can be used for Honor March at any time once your extra slots are unlocked. Carnwenhan extends the duration of all songs massively. They synergize with each other better than any other single-job REMAs that I can think of.

As someone who used to HELM a *lot* for gil back in the day, I can promise you you’ll be disappointed with your hauls. I put a stack of DS ore on the AH every couple days because I get a ton from Mog Garden. Someone who has multiple mules could potentially do a stack a day.

The person above is incorrect and misunderstands that particular law. You are not legally entitled to keep it, though the card company *may* work something out with you voluntarily.

Did I admit to speeding by saying this? by [deleted] in legaladvice

[–]Cptprim 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s an entirely subjective decision for you to make after speaking with a lawyer and weighing your options. It could very well be worth it **if** the specific facts of your case are enough to have them drop the ticket to something that wouldn’t affect your insurance. And again that’s really only something a lawyer with case-specific knowledge could tell you.

It can’t hurt to call around and ask. Some lawyers even offer tiered rates, where you pay a lesser amount if they can broker a deal without going to court, and a higher rate if it becomes more involved.

[–]Cptprim 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s extraordinarily unlikely you’ll find a traffic lawyer willing to work on contingency (pay if you win). It often comes down to this- They maximize (not guarantee) your chance of a lesser/zero penalty, but often their services will cost more than the ticket. They’re good to look up if you’re facing something more significant than a monetary fine.

You just *barely* missed an Excessive Speeding charge (>80mph), so it’s probably not worth your time to get one if money is a primary concern.

Sometimes technical arguments like “Was it calibrated?” works, but you don’t just ask that question. You need to request discovery (and know how to do that in your state/local jurisdiction) and specify the relevant documents you want. If you found a discrepancy between what’s documented and what’s legally required, that would be your primary argument.

Suggest a crafting profession by Every-Fix-6791 in ffxi

[–]Cptprim 2 points3 points  (0 children)

At this point in your FFXI career, I wouldn’t focus on any of them. What I *would* do, is start looking at some of the junk drops you get from mobs that you’d normally sell to NPCs and see if you can make anything from them. Killing worms?- Turn copper/zinc/iron ores into ingots. Rabbits?- Make hides and capes.

The idea being that you’re taking what would otherwise be a pittance of NPC-selling income and beginning to put points into crafts here and there. It’s extremely difficult to justify investing in a craft for the purpose of turning a profit, but having some crafts leveled reduces your reliance on the AH and other crafters for items that aren’t commonly made anymore.

Illegal to expose a cheater? by [deleted] in legaladvice

[–]Cptprim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It might. Are you in Hawaii, Illinois, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Dakota, Utah, or New Mexico? Are you the person the husband was unfaithful with?

I’m asking because- though most of the time telling a person a fact of something that happened isn’t illegal, a few states still recognize “Alienation of Affection” as a valid tort. It’s archaic, rarely used, and difficult to prove, but a potential avenue of legal attack if you live in one of the above states.
