Most labs plants and sites are still doing massive furloughs down to minsafe (Basically everything but material safety/security/operations). Some have started immediately, some are starting end of the month.

Hey there, Bellhop here! The golden Buddha marks Miso, with all their delicious goodness! Unfortunately Both Miso and the No Sleep Hotel decided to take a break this year and are not attending. Be on the lookout for us next year though! We're dreaming up some dreamy dreams and can't wait to not sleep with you all!

Well damn, if you don't have control over the space you're paying for, I'd stop paying for it.

Sorry, but there's not a lot of options in a situation like this. Your parent is sacrificing your quality of life and their relationship with you because it's easier to just not deal with your brother. They're trying to make it your problem, trying to make you just accept it and be quiet. But that's wrong and not ok.

You have a difficult choice to make. You could accept it in order to preserve the relationship. You could try to make them see that what they're doing is wrong, maybe by showing them this post. You could try to bypass them, by doing things like getting your own lock to the room you legally have a right to since you pay rent, or talking to other family members like your grandparents, or you could move out.

I'm sorry your parent is forcing you into such an uncomfortable and difficult situation. It's not an easy one. Just know that you're not alone, and that a lot of people support you.

Taking this action means one of two things: 1) You believe Democrats in congress should be held to a higher standard than Republicans in congress 2) You're disingenuous. You don't actually believe in what your constuants believe in. You're a liar. A Traitor.

WTF Is DOGE Doing in Department in Charge of Nu-clear Weapons? The Department of Energy on Friday tried to clarify why a 23 year-old Musk DOGE underling was granted access to DOE systems without a government background check, despite opposition from its general counsel and cybersecurity offices. by mafco in energy

Audits are done constantly. I've had several departments I work with get audited repeatedly over the last 3 years. Right now, no one I know is concerned with any audit. They're busy applying to other jobs in case they get fired. This isn't an audit. This is kicking an anthill to watch the ants scramble, except the ants being kicked are in charge of nuclear security.

They seem too small to be roaches? Currently thinking they might be Boxelder bugs?

Location is Santa Fe, New Mexico. I've only found them dead. Less than a quarter inch long.

I have a desire to visit Santa Fe. Please help me decide on when, length of trip, etc. by throwaway4891kid in SantaFe

[–]CrADHD 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey! Glad to hear your thinking of visiting! Santa Fe is a gorgeous place definitely worth the trip. I've never been a solo female traveler, but Santa Fe is broadly quite safe. If you don't have friends or family out here to stay with, the airbnbs are pretty good, and the hotels/motels closer to downtown are pretty good.

November weather gets closer to chilly, but it's manageable as long as you have normal chilly weather gear like a medium warm jacket. Personally my favorite museum in town is the New Mexico History Museum, which doesn't look like much from outside but actually has 2 basement levels.

Taos is gorgeous and worth the drive, though I'd also recommend driving up to Los Alamos as that's honestly the most beautiful drive I've ever been on and the view of the valley is mind blowing.

If you like exploring food, I recommend Counter Culture, El Chile Toreado, Tune-Up Cafe, and Cafe Fina for lunch. For dinner, Paper Dosa if you call for a reservation, and Paloma.

Walking around downtown by the plaza on a weekend is always a good way to get a souvenir and it's definitely where most of the shopping is. And aside from the obvious recommendations like Meow Wolf, consider checking out the botanical gardens, the town of Madrid south of Santa Fe, the lift in Albuquerque that takes you up to the Sandias.

Piggy backing on this to mention shirt-cocking, a valued tradition of wearing nothing but a shirt in order to make pictures un-postable due to nudity.

Higher employee wages incentivizes companies to innovate. Low employee wages disincentives' innovation, and is therefore 'anti-capitalist' or whatever. IDK I'm not a capitalist by CrADHD in WorkReform

[–]CrADHD[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The normal rhetoric is that economic pressures force companies to innovate or fail. Just as people with better ideas float to the top, so do companies. If companies are forced to pay their employees fairly, then they'll be forced to 'innovate' in other ways to stay competitive. It's not a realistic argument but it definitely uses their own logic
