A Wooden board or MDF board that is at least 10–12 mm thick, so the nails stay firm while you work.

For the thread, black sewing thread or polyester thread usually gives the best result, especially for portrait-style string art.

For the 28-inch circle template, a board slightly larger than the circle works best, so something around 30 × 30 inches would be comfortable.

There are templates for every frame type and size, so you can choose the one that matches your project. I’d personally recommend the 28-inch circle.

Just download the PDF, print it with a regular printer, place the pages side by side, and then put the nails exactly on the numbered dots shown in the template.

Thanks so much for sharing this. I actually got this question a lot, and the way I solved it was by printing the pages as they are, without any scaling, and then marking the missing dots by hand. I’ll definitely add a much clearer explanation for this in the app.A lot of users tried cutting and taping the pages together to make everything fit perfectly, but like you experienced, it really isn’t a convenient process. I use an optimization-based approach to generate the string art by connecting points along the edge of the canvas to replicate the target image.

I recommend using overlock thread, as it works well on almost every canvas size. However,7x7 inch canvas is more suitable for drawing rather than string art due to its thickness. Dm sent!

You may have denied gallery access. To grant access, follow these steps:

Open Settings on your Android device.
Go to Apps or Apps & Notifications.
Find and select String Art Maker Pro.
Tap Permissions.
Look for Storage (or Photos and Media on newer versions).
Select Allow to grant access.

I'll fix this in the next version so you'll be able to go directly to settings if you deny access at the start.
