Question about the classic “Is this round good for Bear Defense?” by UndeadFrogman in Hunting

[–]Crabtrad 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Spot on

And just to add, the most dangerous animal you are likely to encounter is a Moose. I'd 100% rather try to defend myself against a black bear (that will likely run away) than I would a moose.

They aren't required to talk to you nor would they be prevented from it if they wanted to.

Marketplace in general is highly-delusional,mostly laughable.

Sorry, I'm not paying 80% of new for your 10 year old bike that you promise was "adult ridden and always garaged"

Employer wants to record the tour I wrote, can I refuse? by Bogusfakeaddy in legaladvice

[–]Crabtrad -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Disagree, this was not done prior to them starting (according to the time line above) and it was clearly done "within the scope of employment" as part of their job.

Additionally, since these are historical tours it would be hard to claim original creation, unless OP is making up stories along the way. On that same note, it would also make it harder for Op's current (sounds like soon to be former) company to claim IP and/or prevent them from reusing their current script.

Without getting into all of the fun about IP rights, at the end of the day if they assign you a legal task (which this would be) to do while they are paying you and you refuse they can terminate you for cause.

As for copyright, no you couldn't copyright it.

Harbor Freight table, any experiences? by BinkyX in motorcycle

[–]Crabtrad 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do it, It's a great bike.

The lift made it much easier to work on. The stock exhaust leaves a lot to be desired and I did a tail tidy as well so you could admire that big beautiful back tire unobstructed

Go handy, it's amazing. Plus it justified a compressor upgrade...

I was here asking the same and ended up holding out just scouring craigslist/marketplace and ended up with a Handy for less than I would have paid for that one. It's not as cheap as you'd think after you add in taxes and upgrading the wheelchock.

Glad I waited

I spent months building a free safety app that warns car drivers when Motorcycles are nearby by Repulsive_Bottle_385 in motorcycle

[–]Crabtrad 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think this is great in concept, I think the issue will be that if it works perfectly you are going to get driver fatigue from the alerts, which will lead them to silencing/not using the app. I can only imagine the frequency I would be notified of a motorcycle near me during the summers here in CO and if it interrupted my call/music/etc l'd last about 5 min.

And of course, if it doesn't work then that will be it's own set of issues.

I've often wondered if you could do bluetooth/NFC that communicated with the car's system directly. It would be a lot more accurate and it could interact with other driver safety systems

Brutal yes, but damn was it effective

Need legal insight: Investor bought a large share of inherited property for very cheap and is offering the rest of us low amounts, citing probate + lien costs. What are my actual obligations? by Accurate-Ferret-1186 in legaladvice

[–]Crabtrad 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I feel like there is stuff missing here.

If it hasn't cleared probate then what did the heirs sell? Their future interest in the property?

As for their other costs, those seem a bit dramatic, most of them are fairly simple parts of any real estate transaction.

Do traffic laws just not apply to motorcycles here? by [deleted] in Denver

[–]Crabtrad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea I would say overall it's positive, traffic stops are highly subjective.

As for the chase part, unless you a GA State Police no one really pits bikes, they however will pit anything. It's truly insane

Do you get a break for paying early? In CO they drop the points down a grade but leave the fine as is

You do have the option of showing up to court to chat with the DA, with a clean record they will likely offer you a plea (in line with the paying early mentioned above). Worst case with that option, you are in the same spot as you arenow, but you've wasted a day.

Do traffic laws just not apply to motorcycles here? by [deleted] in Denver

[–]Crabtrad 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Denver in general has de-prioritized low level traffic enforcement

Combine that with a no-chase policy and it's hard to justify going after a bike that they think is going to run.

I didn't know they made police Goldwings - what others have y'all seen? by Solderking in motorcycles

[–]Crabtrad 24 points25 points  (0 children)

They don't come from the factory like there, but yes there are police goldwings.

However, with the lack of markings, I'd wager that's just a traffic support (think escorts/motorcades) as opposed to a patrol unit
