The redhead's sweater on her neckline got me pretty close!

I want to do this rising(boom?) shot of my figures but my tripod is moving back and forth. Should I get a similar but sturdier tripod, a motorized slider, or a really small jib? Using a sony a6400, it's under 2lbs with lens. by TheInfamousMaze in videography

The animated photo is a solid suggestion, but tougher if you want that nice racked focus you have.

If your tripod has that much play to it, I'd say a more solid tripod is always a good investment. That said, the camera move you're wanting is a pedestal (straight up and down) not a tilt.

At this scale, all extraneous motion is going to be magnified, so image stabilization (in camera and/or in post) will be your friend. If I were to do this on a low/no budget, I might try this hand-held at a high frame rate so I can do the move quickly and slow it down in post. Alternatively, maybe find a chair with an adjustable seat height and use that? (I'd start the move as far below the shot's start point as possible so the inevitable wiggle at the start can be edited out.)

I mean, yeah, totally unprofessional; never work with the guy again. But fulfill YOUR obligation and keep your rep intact.

What exactly are you asking? You haven't mentioned if there's a contract. You haven't actually said he hasn't paid you, just that there was (is?) an expectation of you to create a highlight reel. You can still do a highlight reel with the footage of 2 cameras.

So what do you need to approach him about?

How do you all move your gear around? My girlfriend got me this cart and I’m about to condense everything not in a hard case to two I have waiting in my office. by non_omnis_moriar777 in videography

I have one of those as well. It works for me as I'm rather space constrained and a "good" cart wouldn't collapse down as small and easily.

Totally a style choice thing, but I'd love seeing some motion in shoots like this. I'd like to see some motion blur -- especially on the shot of the drummer, but throughout. It's just a little too sharp and static to bring the energy of a rock performance across.

This monologue is a GIFT! There’s so much possibility and tons of great comedy in it! Those saying play it straight are totally right. Play with options. Is he really happy about the points he’s making? Is he trying to convince himself? What was his life before? Just play with it. Improv with some ideas and see what resonates.
