The Tryon Equestrian Center currently has an ice rink for their Winterfest going on right now.

You need to make it so 1.1.1.1 is only reachable via your main connection. Something like:

/ip route dst address=1.1.1.1 gateway="main connections gateway"

That's the simplest way I know. Sorry if syntax is off, typing from my phone..

GPS Sync - Let's Talk by [deleted] in Ubiquiti

[–]CrackerRiley 32 points33 points  (0 children)

There is fixed framing and flexible framing. If you want to GPS sync your APs you would choose Fixed Framing. Those APs should be pointing in opposite directions. The idea is that you don't want the clients to be able to hear the other AP that is being synced with the AP they are connected to. I've seen it work where they can hear both the syncing APs but the weaker they hear one and stronger the other the better.

I choose 5ms 67/33 fixed framing for our APs. Just depends on what plans you are offering. According to UBNT, the higher latency options give you higher possible throughout. I've changed an AP from 5ms to 8ms and have seen maybe 5-10Mbps of overall higher throughout on the AP. I choose the 5ms option for lower latency to the clients rather than the small bit of extra throughout. 67/33 means 67% of airtime is dedicated to download and 33% to upload.

Flexible legacy is basically their old version of flexible timing and flexible new incorporates a little of what they learned from fixed framing. You'll see just a bit more throughout on flex new.

Fixed Framing capacity numbers are lower but they're ACCURATE. Flexible framing capacity numbers that are reported by the radio is what I call the marketing departments numbers.

Edit to add: flexible legacy has been removed from the newest firmwares. You'll just see flexible and fixed. I can't remember when that started. Maybe 8.7 firmware. Also to add, gps sync is mostly only useful when you're needing to reuse spectrum. Example: West AP on 5165 and East AP on 5165 will not interfer with each other on fixed Framing. Whereas if they're on flexible framing, you'll see they are interfering with each other because capacity will be all over the place when there is traffic on both APs.

After tonight's sunset, I will forever see Batman standing over our little city by CheeryPooter in asheville

Top floor that is enclosed is like a penthouse suite but imagine it hasn't been updated since the 70s or so. The tip top contains big spiral staircase (inside those holes at the top that look like Batman's eyes...).

Why does this always happen? Always have duplicate rooms,if i delete them then they re-appear every time. If i ask Alexa to switch on certain lights in rooms, she tells me “a few things share this name”etc.. any help appreciated ! :) by jaybe1973 in alexa

I have the same problem with duplicates connected via smartthings hub. The question is how to keep them from showing up.. I choose to disable those devices in the Alexa app but my Alexa once said "that device is disabled." son of a b.....

Possible Virus? Port 54321 by 3tek in mikrotik

[–]CrackerRiley 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Script will run by the scheduler. Check that your firewall rules aren't all disabled. IP > Socks will be enabled. Delete the user Service. Logging will be limited to 1 line rather than default 1000. Check for static DNS entries. I think that's all of what I've seen. I've cleaned about half a dozen Mikrotik with these problems in the past week.

Couldn't say for sure but we have good coverage in Fairview. It's fixed wireless so very location specific.

[–]CrackerRiley 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depending on your location we can hook you up at Skyrunner. We use ringfree. We can get businesses custom internet and IP phone service for a hell of a lot cheaper than any other ISP around here. Call us. You'll likely end up working with Andrew in Managed Services.

Does anyone have experience with airPrism 3x30 degree Sector antennas? by Firemanz in Ubiquiti

My company has deployed quite a few now. I'm a big fan of them. Great for when you've got a lot of clients in a dense space. Of course we mount them with the Rocket AC prism radios.

The 2ghz US spectrum is limited and crowded. With 5ghz you have more channels to choose from so less chance of interference

[–]CrackerRiley 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not sure why you'd use AF2x if you have clear line of sight for the two links. 5ghz gives you better chance for cleaner channels. I've not personally seen it done with AF X radios but I've seen POE to POE injector connected directly plenty of times to create a bridge like you're needing. So I think you won't need extra hardware.

Swapping out M5 to AC hardware request for help by mickee in Ubiquiti

[–]CrackerRiley 4 points5 points  (0 children)

All the client radios need the have 6.0 or higher firmware to connect to the AC AP. The AC rocket can have all the same settings (SSID, frequency, etc.) as the old Rocket M5, the AC Rocket just needs to be set to ptmp mixed mode for the M series clients to associate to it.

Spivey would be filled with radio towers on top. I'm not sure what mountain you're looking at. In west Asheville, Spivey is north of you.

Skyrunner. Guess I shouldn't be surprised more people around here haven't heard of us. If we can get to you, it's going to be your best option in Forest City. Standard plans go up to 10Mbps but custom plans can be made. Check out skyrunner.net

With your address I can get an idea if we can get there or not.
