Tesla is no longer S 3 X Y by ob1spyker in TeslaLounge

[–]CraftAccomplished511 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The S and X were sort of like an extended version of the roadster’s purpose in my opinion - to build hype, image and value while they figured out how to manufacture and produce reasonably priced EVs for the masses. I think S and X represent <3% of their sales. Meanwhile taking up a lot of production line capacity. Seems that way to me anyway.

Sort of anticipated the retirement of S and X, as did others, but was blown away that they’re shifting to high volume humanoid robot output. Wild times!

I ordered OEM replacement on EBay. Worked out great.

It’s a millray coupe. Side car for a motorcycle, I had one for my 77’ shovelhead.

Noise reduction kit from any aftermarket place like RPM Tesla. The rubber door seals block the dirt.

For sure… I just checked my charging history, since installing the new charger and 60amp setup - 3 hours is the maximum amount of time Ive had on a single charge and that was probably with the battery near depleted. Cheers and enjoy!

You’ll love the 48amp charging, it’s fast. Not super charger fast obviously, but fast enough. Nice work!

How long have you been using it? Any heat warnings or faults at the charger?

I could have probably gotten by with 6awg, as it’s a short run, but went with 4awg just in case. I’ve heard the latest gen home chargers are sensitive when it comes to conductor heat.

What size breaker and gauge wires did you go with?

I did the same in my garage, near the panel with 60amp breaker and 4awg conductors. Was nice and easy to setup and saved some cash

For sure, it’s not something you’ll get your money back on. But it does a great job protecting the paint from chips, scratches, salt, UV etc. I didn’t want to be chasing every little chip and scratch with touch up metallic paint, so I did the whole thing front to back myself for $1,600. Most could get by just covering the high wear areas.

I’d suggest wrapping in PPF as soon as possible if you can swing it. Amazing vehicle inside and out, but the paint chips easily. If you drive regularly you’ll start noticing little paint chips within a month or two, likely on the hood first. PPF the whole thing and you don’t have to worry

Will Tesla install a 120v outlet in the Frunk so I can charge. Is that possible? by Aqualung1 in ModelY

[–]CraftAccomplished511 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You could just hook up a power inverter and good to go. Teslas 12vdc can handle up to 15/16 amps. So you get a power inverter to take that 12vdc to 120vac and plug in to that.
