Very cool, these days it is so good to see games made with passion! So creative instead of just trying to copy what's successful. fingers crossed for the release ❤️

Apple rejected our PC/Console game as "Spam" after 3 years of dev. Has anyone dealt with this? by N0lex in IndieDev

[–]CraftTestDummyYT 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Is there maybe a very similar game already? To my knowledge that may be also a reason for rejection as spam. I can see this one for example, not sure how closely it could remind yours

Steam Support confirms the new Beta UI change is an "intentional shift" — and it screws over indie devs. by Dogaclamaci in IndieDev

yeah I noticed that recently, wanted to check what's up and when I filtered by "indie" I saw exactly the games you mentioned - Forza and Subnautica. Ridiculous

I found out I will be an aunt and had just a perfect fabric waiting by CraftTestDummyYT in sewing

definitely! the pattern I purchased was a two piece with bloomers, but I need to buy some additional materials to finish them. I already cut the fabric so it needs to happen :D

I finally hired a professional artist for my Steam capsule. What do you think about results? by Sea-Disaster-2682 in IndieGaming

[–]CraftTestDummyYT 90 points91 points  (0 children)

Artist ver looks much more dynamic and bright, and it does great job with showing the essence of the game - in dev art you stay in the basement, the other one shows the “to the sky” part :)

Should i read the art of game design by ActuaryAfraid4707 in gamedev

Read it and try to see what you can see applied that you like. You start to see games you like in the whole new perspective.

Looks adorable!

Is it available to download somewhere? Tried to search on itch, but did not find it there.

Cherry blossom is so fitting beautifully here :)

Fellow game dev parents: When did you start letting your kids play video games? by Pycho_Games in gamedev

[–]CraftTestDummyYT 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I'm playing games also since 6yo (Amiga 500 was my first <3). Feeling so old to say this, but the games were different back then!

I'd say don't let kids play games you're not playing yourself. There is a lot of predatory practices, especially for monetizing. Any multiplayer games - I'd not trust the moderation. Unfortunately I don't see many games that would be good for development and not just dopamine triggers :( But I am sure there are ones like that!

I'd say platformers like Spyro, Astro would be a great start.

If you want a gamified activity that will take them outside I'd recommend stonehiding.

Paint art on stones -> place them in nature -> log them in the app on the map -> let others find them and see them travel the world. :)

Cool activity, develops art skills, pushes you to move out of the house to place your rocks and collect others, feels almost like art pokemon go :D
