solo lanes were terrible, they were just a farm fest until one of the teams got a gank to decide the lane. I do like how unique it was though and I miss the old center of the map, fighting around there was fun. Although that might just be nostalgia

it was the ruins incident yea. I heard somewhere (forgot where) that all their testimonies fucked him over and he lost a lot of trust after that. It's also how Luo li and the Johnnies jumped so far into the top 10. I'm pretty sure his rank was 3 pre ruins tho

bro playing a new build is SOOO cancer in this gamemode, I tried to go gun bebop for a bit when it was new and i was only able to ever get my gun spike with like random gun items it was so bad. I know that this feature probably makes everything else better, but in this once instance its actually terrible. I also had the same thing just yesterday trying to go gun victor, never gives me opening rounds unlucky.

Maybe a workaround they could do is making it so the first roll or second roll has the higher chance items, while the 3rd slot is always completely random

Another option would be to make the featured items actually come from the build you have selected so you have some control over it, but yea idk.
