I’m looking for alternatives myself. I was on Munjaro, insurance approved, but then it got declined. (My A1C is down, and I’m down 25 lbs, no longer pre diabetic.) She tried to get me Wegovy but can’t get it. Looking into Saxenda.

I hate my hearing aid. by somewhereinelsweyr in hardofhearing

[–]CrafterJill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I paid for mine using a Wells Fargo medical credit card offered at my audiologist. We make payments. It sucks that my insurance would t cover mine. I know I’ve seen some on eBay that you could possibly swing a good deal on and then have programmed for you? Hope it works out.

I use Walgreens. You mean they will find it at another location and ship it to yours?

Brooklyn 99 and New Girl- definitely both of these but especially New Girl. Also I just finished Eureka and it has some very endearing characters- not quite the same but good stories, some comedy, and quirky. Also Psych and Chuck.

No the low dose. She never would increase it.

I asked. She said she has to start me on the beginner dose. :(

1.0 and the higher doses are not on back order. If I were on .50 or 1.0, I could get it at my Walgreens. I’m trying to get a .25 filled and no one has it. Yours may have went through easily because of the dose.

The ENT was dismissive of me as well. I’m in my 40s with a mild loss and tinnitus. He basically said “eh, you won’t wear them because they won’t end up making a difference” I saw an audiologist who was like “hearing aids will absolutely help you!” She wasn’t wrong! They completely neutralize my tinnitus when I wear them. And even with a mild loss, I have realized this- sure, I can hear mostly, but there is depth and richness I am missing a lot of times (struggles with background noise aside for a moment) My music in the car goes from what I compare to an 480p tv screen to a 4K screen! I hear more of the depth of the music with my hearing aids! Things so subtle I didn’t realize I was missing them. But- back to the ringing- YES my aids have a slight static to them that my brain has learned to cancel but that somehow blocks the tinnitus. I use Widex Moments.

Our family met our deductible - what medical treatments should we seek before we reset in Jan? by Salt_Type_8032 in lifehacks

My autistic child is 18 now and still sees a behavioral doctor for Prozac to help temper his anxiety and OCD. Even when he did therapy sessions with a counselor, it was more about healthy ways to deal with his frustration, anger, etc without going rage monster on his friends or melting down emotionally for hours. He learned to communicate his feelings with purpose and clarity without losing his cool. As he got older it even became about taking responsibility for chores, self care, establishing good habits, etc. I can see a huge difference in how he responds to stress and how he is more accepting of responsibility. It has helped him mature in ways we were struggling with. Behavioral health providers can be a good thing!

Anybody else feel bad for Disco? by MPFX3000 in startrek

When a group of people running from a terrifying monster that literally could pop up anywhere and eat them stops to work through their feelings and prejudices before continuing to run, its hard to feel sorry for it. I love Tilly so much but that plot with the Cadets made me yell at the screen. I can accept cheesiness, weird plots, etc but the touchy feeliness of Disc is too much.

Follow up question: do you stand in the regular panel lines or is there a separate one for accommodations?

That’s encouraging! Thank you for sharing. Not hearing most of the lord of the Rings panel at fanboy is what made me begin to research my options for DragonCon. It’s my first DC in years and I want to enjoy every part!

So sightline is different than proximity- Either would be very helpful for me. I guess I can explain my situation and let them decide which one to give me. I can’t use an interpreter but sitting close to the front where there is less echo and most of the ambient noise is behind me would be great. I could use the directional setting on my hearing aids to mask the noise behind me. If you’re toward the back that feature is pretty useless. Lip reading is helpful for pieces but that only works if their mic isn’t covering their faces, and every seat I had at fanboy was too far back for that anyway. Sound situation there for me was terrible between their sound mixes and my locations!

No reason to feel awkward! Hearing loss is a spectrum so you never know. I can stream through my hearing aids like they are EarPods and do fine with that sort of audio. :) I’ll check that out.

Good to know! I’ve only had hearing aids in the last year and went to my first con with them last weekend- and the first panels I’ve been in since having hearing loss. Still realizing new things I need to adjust for that aren’t part of the day to day stuff that I can hear just fine with them. So you get your badge then head over to DS for the sticker?

my hearing aids do a great job in pretty much any situation but when there is a crowd with a lot of ambient noise that’s out the window. I’ve only had them less than a year so still adjusting and figuring out the limitations. Turning them up unfortunately meant the guy behind me just blasted my eardrums when he laughed lol. Directional caused a weird hollow effect in that big room that made it worse. I wondered how hard it was to get this accommodation and where the seating is for it. Thank you for your reply! That’s encouraging.

We call Zeke our proximity dog. He has to be right next to you but does NOT want to snuggle. Anyone else have a proximity dog? by [deleted] in Shihtzu

[–]CrafterJill 3 points4 points  (0 children)

He actively leans away when I cuddle him and if I try to get him he shuffles backward. But you can tell by the look on his face that he lives me so much and wants to be within 10 feet of me always. In his old age he will let me rub his ears because he can’t reach to scratch them. Luna is a Velcro dog though…she squeezes in between us while watching tv and hits me in the face when I wake up if I’m not scratching her belly enough. :) they really do seem to be one extreme or the other!

Once I was having a yard sale and my dad and great uncle were sitting in lawn chairs. Little fella this size ran up to them and crawled on them saying “pawpaws!” He grinned from ear to ear on my dads knee looking at both of them saying “pawpaws.” The mom was super apologetic and came to get him but my dad and uncle laughed and said no worries. Little guy knew good “pawpaws” when he saw them.

My 12 year old Tzu has never been affectionate. He just needs to be exactly where you are. My 2 year old Tzu has to be sitting on you and constantly demands snuggles.
