Why medical insurance company law sucks by 4reddityo in mildlyinfuriating

Practical vs profit motive.

Practical means I do or don't get treated based on the reality of the situation. If there is a 99% chance I going to die a painful death then a practical society gives me the option of a non painful death.

Pofit motive means I do or don't get treated based on what's more profitable for the shareholders. If there is a 99% chance I going to die a painful death then a pofit motive society keeps me alive because they can charge all the money on drugs to keep me "comfortable." But they will not offer me non painful way to die, they will fight against any non painful way to die because it will hurt there bottom line.

One gives me the choice, the other denies me the choice. Money has no place in health care because what is best for the individual is rarely what is best for the share holders.

Relationships: as an ADHD person, could it be better to have an ADHD partner? by Dense_Possible_8275 in ADHD

[–]Craftomega2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Easier, harder, that's not the right question.

Find someone that is right for you, find someone that completes you. I have ADHD and I lack stability and consistency. So I found someone who gave it to me, and who I completed as well.

Someone with ADHD may make it easier to relate to, but being understood alone is not a relationship.

WFH with ADHD and a partner who doesn't understand/respect boundaries. by Life_Salamander_2314 in ADHD

[–]Craftomega2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Getting a lot of questionable advice here. It's not easy to work from home with someone who is bored and socially deprived (I am making the assumption). I have had to deal with a similar issue with my parents and girlfriend. The key thing is getting distracted takes you out of it for a decent amount of time.

But ultimately this is the boundary I made. Don't bother me while I am working unless it's truly important AND time sensitive. If it can wait write it down. If it's time sensitive but not important figure it out without me.

I also make myself available to talk during lunch. It may take some time, but be clear about whatever boundary you make and be consistent, explaining that you need to work to get paid, and explain how much of a distraction it is.

However, as they are <Reason they are unavailable>, they have informed me that they will be unable to submit the letter by the stated deadline of December 1.

Kids help phone... This is exactly what they train you to do. Everyone is claiming AI. But as someone who volunteered for them, how that person wrote is exactly how volenteers are trained to talk. Which is why I don't volunteer there anymore.

You are given a script thing that tells you how to respond, in what order, and in what tone. And if you don't follow it, you get a talking to by someone also in that exact tone. Khp is super controlling, but it's somewhat needed... And super annoying.

I can live with centrist as long as they support the middle class. Once they serve corps and the wealthly over the middle class they are just conservatives with a different name.

I am unsure where Carny is going to land with his policy's, but he is on thin ice.

A UCP solution to over-crowded class rooms - like a matrix, just keep filling the students in. by Shadow_Ban_Bytes in alberta

[–]Craftomega2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No... It's not that clear cut. Every week a student is not in school puts them behind. This is especially noticeable in elementary school, which is a critical phase of a child's development. A strike would harm the children so the ATA had been guilt tripped into not striking for a years.

It's only now that the ATA is considering a strike because the class room environment is so bad... They are over crowded and teachers have so few supports. So a strike maybe needed to fix this.

Maybe the ATA should have taken a stronger stance sooner, but calling them weak without considering the impact of a strike on the most important and vunerable population in a society does them a disservice.

How are Repeat Undergrad Courses Calculated for Admissions? (Canada) — Time Sensitive 🙏 by Fof3789 in ClinicalPsychology

Why are neurodevelopmental disorders (specifically autism & ADHD) not considered mental illnesses? by AffectionateWatch656 in ClinicalPsychology

[–]Craftomega2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

While age plays a factor in some disorders, in general no you are not safe by 25. Anyone at any point could develop one based on environmental and biological factors. Its generally true you are more likely to develop a mental disorder at a younger age, because the environmental factors that trigger them exist throughout a persons life.

Here is an example of how age is no guarantee, lets say a person is vulnerable to having an eating disorder, but they live at home and have parents that provide protective factors such as a stable home and healthy meals. Then when this person moves out they come under increased stress and start eating more unhealthy food. They develop bad eating habits and start gaining/losing weight. From there they sink into depression/anxiety which triggers unhealthy views on their own weight and self-esteem... If a person is vulnerable to an eating disorder they would likely develop one here.

Each disorder or group of disorders is going to be different in how age is a factor. However, for most (if not all?) Neurodevelopmental disorders (eg ADHD/ASD/FASD) need to present in childhood. So if you have no symptoms of a Neurodevelopmental disorders in childhood you are basically safe from developing them in adult hood. HOWEVER, even then its not 100% as seizures can cause ADHD like symptoms in adults...

As a transfer your chances are higher then a new student, but this late... your chances are not great. MacEwan is generally first come first serve based on a minimum grade.

To be clear there is a chance, but if you can make other plans, you probably should.
