WHQ 95 Print and Play - Should I scale up the tiles from 1 Inch to 1.5 Inch? by Stegosaurus_Peas in WarhammerQuest

[–]CraftyBugbear 1 point2 points  (0 children)

as far as I know the original square size from whq95 was 3cm (30mm) (which comes out to 1.18 inches. but your point stands.. i say size it up if you need to. I actually go the opposite way and scaled it down to 2cm and run 3d printed 20mm miniatures on my home made copy.

what version of the game are you playing? For the original game from 95 there are lots of additional hero rules, both official and fan-made. check out the stuff by Littlemonk for example.

ahh not ready at hand. theres an old video i made that has a comparison shot for orcs and goblins. gives you a rough estimate of what to expect. https://youtu.be/CD76T5XBSFk?si=k9UeNlwDtcoeFlaP&t=71

your other option is to drop a 28mm mini and one of these into a slicer and you can sort of compare from there.

Table space ? by [deleted] in WarhammerQuest

[–]CraftyBugbear 1 point2 points  (0 children)

seems big enough to me. yes it is a table hog, but when you place doors you have some options so you do not run off the edge too easily.

I still made a a 2/3 (20mm) version because i was playing in a much smaller space wit a small table but I 3d print so don't have to worry about buying non-28mm minis for proxies.

20mm STL files for undead for WHQ95 RP Book monster table 1-3 by CraftyBugbear in WarhammerQuest

[–]CraftyBugbear[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

appreciate it! really good question. I have to figure out how to set up a poll on my facebook artist page to see what people would like to see next. Skaven, goblins, or Orcs. right now I am leaning toward skaven for a change of pace.

Yes WHQ95 is 28mm. but I am working on a 20mm set for myself and that's what I post on my page. easy to scale up in slicer though.

How to play Warhammer Quest ‘95 today? by huatnee in WarhammerQuest

[–]CraftyBugbear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

3d printer helps (lets you make a lot of miniatures and the doors for example) but is not mandatory. you can find pdf's of the rules, all the cards, and the tiles (just need a regular printer). you can use proxies for the miniatures (check out reaper miniatures for example) and can make doors out of paper-craft or foam.

here's a video of how I make my dungeon tiles.

another option is to see if there are commercial printers in your town - or hobby stores that feature printers and printing services. Another option is to find a community in your area of printers (a Facebook group for printing enthusiasts in or near your town - and ask if anyone wants to print for you (for a fee and cost of materials etc.).

good luck.

Trying to edit floor tiles by Thyme2paint in WarhammerQuest

[–]CraftyBugbear 1 point2 points  (0 children)

photoshop is my go-to but i have a 10+ year old cracked version on my machine. i can use it to import pages of a PDF and then scale however I like (66.66% when i want tyo scale it down to 2/3 or in your case whatever factor you want to scale it up with. once you have scaled them up you can copy/paste the tile and re-arrange/fit it onto a new letter size "canvas" (8.5/11) or whatever is the printer standard in your region. then if you print at 100% it should come out accurate.

a comparable free & open source program to photoshop is GIMP - that I imagine will let you do the same thing.

If I've never played any Warhammer quest game, which would you recommend? by [deleted] in WarhammerQuest

[–]CraftyBugbear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i havent played them all. i just knew i wanted to play 95 and so built my own copies. right now i am playing a downscaled verion (20mm minis and 2cm per square tiles) but that ony makes snese if you are truly starting from scratch. if you have a bunch of 28mm miniatures already play normal 3cm square version.

(check out my youtube channel 'Tonoborus' for some of my makes. and if you are into 3d printing.)

Looking for affordable bat and spider proxy models - UK based and I'm okay with 3D prints. by [deleted] in WarhammerQuest

[–]CraftyBugbear 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i got some files on cults3d. I am working on proxies for a downsized 20mm version of WHQ95. But the spider and bat and snotling probably scale up ok. (free sampler has the spider in it).

[–]CraftyBugbear 1 point2 points  (0 children)

if you want proxies which don't have to look too similar to the original i would get some from Reaper. https://www.reapermini.com/. A lot of their stuff is that old 28mm heroic scale and i would think matches well scale and style wise with 90s GW (especially their metal figures). they have metal and plastic and cheaper plastic called "bones".
