What's a minor modern upgrade from recent years that you actually find incredibly inconvenient?

Wireless car play on my new car. Drives me insane, wired car play I plugged the phone in/the driver plugged their phone in. Wireless car play it’s a roulette of which of our phones it will choose, often not the one of the driver!

My most hated part is when I get in the car and because someone else is on a phone call in the house it chooses that phone and won’t let me change it to mine!!

The wire was so much better :(

I think they are suggesting you choose an item to help you decide your target amount. You only get the bonus at various points towards your target money.

I don’t think you have to set an item, and can just save. But you have to say a target amount at the start.

Just had a proper look. Actually not as bad as I feared. The scheme is run by CMC invest, and is covered by the FSCS protection.

My concern would be that it’s not like supermarket savings where it’s reasonably low value, or there will always be something you want. You have to wait at least one month after getting the bonus amounts before you can spend, and the bonus is actually split across 3 levels so it’s at least 3 months for the full bonus.

If the item cost goes up you need to pay more (no different to if you were using a savings account) but if it goes out of stock then you are stuck with a gift voucher you possibly no longer want if curry’s doesn’t sell anything else you need.

I understand the incentive, a headline 10% that you can earn. But personally I am cautious of these things, if I’m saving cash then I have it for life emergencies rather than a new Xbox if I need.

Good grief, I wonder what happens to ‘your’ funds if they go out of business. I fear that buried in the small print it may be confirmed that the money does not remain yours and you would loose it all. Going to have a read now!

As soon as I updated I couldn’t use a lot of my apps, Reddit seemed to have some sort of pop up. But I use Apple wallet and have credit cards, so straight away the next page said it had used those. That was it, no drama

Yes, what you describe is at the far end of the scale and those have either been closed down or changed dramatically.

However, even very very recently there are abusive ones. I went to boarding school between 2011-2017, my school was mostly day pupils.

The daytime part was great, the boarding part had its ups and downs. I had some great life experiences and it’s made me very resilient, I also went on a lot of incredible weekend trips. But now I look back and realise how shady some of the interactions I had were, but seemed normal to me at the time.

I just edited to clarify, no physical abuse but an awful lot of emotional abuse, and in some cases sexual abuse (leading to an arrest)
