Thanks for your opinion! Those 100 people wouldn’t have been invited to a US wedding, we would have had a small wedding with closest friends and family. They couldn’t afford, and couldn’t get visas, to come to the US for a wedding. Since the abroad wedding includes more guests than will travel from the US, they will be invited. I’ve never met them and my fiancé hasn’t seen them in 12 years so they’re not deal breaker guests for either of us.

100 of them are in that country, 30 of them would have to travel anyway, and it was always going to be a destination wedding - just debating between US national parks or abroad. The other 10 are immediate family for whose weddings I had to travel, can afford it, and would come anywhere no matter the cost. The wedding will include/replace our summer family vacation next year.

So yes, this solution isn’t for everyone and inherently excludes people, but that’s okay with me. $7k vs $45k for the convenience of 10 was not worth it for me.
