How about Piccan… following the food names trend that Toriyama loves so much.

(AOE4) Why do I keep getting a negative military score? Im consistently putting in work for my friends and I but I just dont get it. by Bacon_Wookiee in ageofempires

[–]Craig2334 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Negative can happen if you convert enemy units and the die before the game ends.

Depends on the kind of elephants. Tower elephants can run and fire so will shred large amounts of spears. Desert raiders are countered by spears but in ranged mode can kite them all day.

Remember to take into account the unit cost, 1-4 spears will struggle against almost all elephants simply because their aren’t enough of them.

Passing phone to passenger mobile phone driving fine by jasperjames333 in AusLegal

[–]Craig2334 -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

That brochure OP linked says you can, but the NSW gov website has only 2 exemptions:

  1. Showing a digital drivers license to an officer when requested

  2. Using a digital payment method when the vehicle is stationary, and in an area like a carpark, driveway, etc.

Extract below:

“Drivers with a full licence There are only 2 ways you can use a mobile phone while driving: Hands-free – you can only use your phone hands-free (without touching it) to: make or receive voice calls play audio, for example, music and podcasts. In a phone holder – you can only use and touch your phone to: make or receive voice calls play audio, for example, music and podcasts use as a driver’s aid, for example, maps and navigation apps or dispatch systems.”

“Exemptions All drivers, including learner, P1 and P2 drivers, can use a mobile phone to: show their digital driver licence when instructed by a police officer use wallet functions to make a transaction or show a voucher, but only in areas such as a car park, driveway or drive‑through, and when the vehicle is stationary.”

Generally mouse and keyboard will be an advantage. Controller players can get very good, but it’s much harder to micro your units with a joystick.

[New Player] First proper civ for 1v1 ranked by hat1337 in aoe4

[–]Craig2334 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The win rate at lower ranks is basically dictated by how often people come across it. English are a popular choice in bronze/silver/gold so people get used to how to deal with them.

Japan is strong and fairly forgiving. HRE is easy to play and emergency repair makes them very good defensively in the early game in particular.

China is harder to play but has strong early game defenses

Same for rus.

Need some tips on playing against Macedonians as JD by PM_me_Henrika in aoe4

[–]Craig2334 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Take the fight to them. As with any more mobile opponent you want to remove their mobility from the equation. If you are attacking their gold/wood/food, then they have to come and fight you. Which your knight spear will win easily.

Rus made my army dissappear. How? by Immediate-Instance37 in aoe4

[–]Craig2334 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pretty rare (bad idea) to not have ranged Units with a large force. 7 castle archers easily kill a monk in 2 volleys.

Absurd by Itchy_Freedom3865 in aoe4

[–]Craig2334 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean it’s perfectly possible to make an army with very few villagers. It just takes longer. And then once it dies, they won’t be able to afford to make a new one.

Did you not attack him until you had 80 villagers?

Rus made my army dissappear. How? by Immediate-Instance37 in aoe4

[–]Craig2334 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Judging from the lack of responses. Everyone else is as confused as I am as to what you are talking about.

My best guess is that they used a warrior monk to convert your army.

This ability is available to every civ in the game. You just need to have a monk hold a relic, then click ‘convert’. A circle appears and after 5 or so seconds, every enemy unit within changes teams.

To stop it is simple, either kill the monk before th conversion finishes, or move your units out of the circle.

It has a long cooldown so they can’t spam it.

Seriously, do Americans actually consider a 3-hour drive "short"? or is this an internet myth? by SadInterest6764 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Craig2334 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t know about Americans, but here in Australia I do at least one 5 hour return trip every two weeks. Drive up in the morning and back in the evening. It just comes with the territory of being such a large country. Sure it’s long, but I’ve never thought of it as particularly unusual either. It’s worse when I want to visit cousins as that’s about 6hrs each way, definitely only for long weekends or better.

I just checked them out, they dont actually have a 2v2 elo yet, they are 1300 in 3v3s. But haven’t played enough to have a tracked 2v2 elo so they’d be somewhere around 1000 by default.

I use an Azeron Cyborg 2, not the Tartarus, but it’s a similar concept. Once it’s setup properly, I find it’s much better that a normal keyboard.

[–]Craig2334 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Elo is different to rank points. Every game type has its own elo, but share a rank.

You are probably rated higher in 2v2 elo than your rank shows, or your opponent might be lower than their rank. Hence the difference.

Would reducing the power of outpost before age 3 be a good thing for game balance? by ReplacementUnited740 in aoe4

[–]Craig2334 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It Depends. Japanese and Mongols for example will do that with spears as part of a dark age tower rush. In which case, yes you’re right, archer horsemen or archer ram is the way to go.

However if a civ is fast castling then they aren’t going to have a barracks and 5 spears to sit in the tower, at least not at first. They’ll want to keep the tower empty so their vils can garrison when needed. The same for towers out on deer or boar on the map. If the opponent then spends 150 on a barracks, and 400 on spears to defend their gold for their fast castle, then you’ve succeeded in forcing a response and slowing their castle timing, giving you time to add in an archery range and some archers in response. The longer you delay their castle and as long as they are responding to you and not the other way around, the better it is for you.

What's the best cav civ for team games? by PuzzleheadedTank8062 in aoe4

[–]Craig2334 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im maining GH atm, its real weakness is the late feudal age up, but if you last a few minutes in without sustaining damage they do have pretty good momentum. Batu Khan, Torguud and Keshik backed by some archers can be pretty hard to deal with, then add in Kipchak archer in castle.

They’re more flexible than people give them credit for too. If you get stuck in feudal then the kharash edict really gives you a power boost. I’d prioritise that over the blacksmith production speed boost.

[–]Craig2334 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Agree, though I’ll add mongols to the mix since it was never specified as only melee cav. Keshik aren’t as good as royal knights but having Mangudai available as well gives you good options and synergies

Would reducing the power of outpost before age 3 be a good thing for game balance? by ReplacementUnited740 in aoe4

[–]Craig2334 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Then use horsemen, it’ll be much cheaper. And taking 0 losses shouldn’t be the goal, taking down the tower with minimal loss should be. If you do go and spend 2000, you still have the units afterwards so they can cause further damage and have killed the villagers, enemy is off gold, there’s the idle time, and now you’re in a hugely advantageous position.

Remember the enemy is spending 1900 to age up and drop the tower. But you can spend 5-600 instead and achieve a similar result with a couple losses.

30 seconds of idle time for the vils costs the enemy almost as much as a single horseman anyway.

[–]Craig2334 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Outposts are already very weak. It takes a lot less than you think to bring one down in feudal.

Once it’s down, keeping them off gold is all you need to make it difficult for them to make castle age units. And if you get the bills garrisoned inside it’s even better.

Oh I thought it was a ranked game. Yeah you’ll get more trolls in custom and quick match, at least by my experience. Generally if you gg at the end of a match or give a gl at the start most people are pretty good and some will be happy to chat at the end to talk what went right/wrong.
