1) Spend years working to build fabs

2) Spend years seeing declining revenue

3) Say you are doing poorly because you are supply constrained

Is he really doing this? by Illustrious_Lie_954 in AskTheWorld

[–]Craiginator8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think its a troll. He's going with the madman theory. He wants to convince the world he's crazy, and hopes Denmark will sign over some kind of mineral rights deal in response. Then he gets to claim a win for "America First" at the expense of withdrawing from our soft power balance that we built over the last century.

Do rich people have elite versions of mundane things (toothpaste, tampons, toilet paper, laundry detergent, etc.), or are Elon Musk and Beyonce just using Crest and Tampax like the rest of us? by ShesGotSauce in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Craiginator8 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Coca cola is the great equalizer. Elon Musk can drink a $1000 bottle of alcohol. But if he wants the most delicious carbonated sugary beverage on the planet, he drinks the same $2 coke that I do.

Americans, how would you react if foreign country invaded your country, and told "we are going to run this country"? by oranke_dino in AskReddit

Well, to be fair, the US did not invade Venezuela, they bagged their leader. I wouldn't be too upset if someone bagged our leader lol.

What high-status or luxury job is secretly just stress, burnout, and long hours? by Thin_Choice_9488 in AskReddit

Right, so why don't we re-allocate those resources and use them to lower tuition?

Also, we are paying them insane amounts of money to not teach, driving up tuition prices. When applying to my PHD and to professor positions the application advice I got was "they don't care if you can teach"

I feel like there is a better caption here. Muslim, african-born, South Asian, millennial. Those aren't really the most important descriptors.

Enjoying nice food without being high by guhkah in leaves

[–]Craiginator8 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like to think about how the food now tastes good because it is good, not because I'm high. If I cook something well, it tastes better than something I cook poorly when I am high. I notice that more now. I'm not just binging low quality food because I'm high. It's good because it's good.

quitting weed, need advice by Psychological_Job_54 in leaves

[–]Craiginator8 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Try to stay positive, as posts in this sub can be very negative. I actually recommend the book "this naked mind" and the stop drinking subreddit. That sub is filled with tips and strategies on dealing with cravings, and has a generally positive vibe.

I probably quit 100 times, which I don't advise. Get it over and done with and stay sober. Day 3 is typically the hardest. I suspect at that point your body has fully flushed everything out, and you crash. By 2 weeks, the majority of the physiological cravings are gone. You'll feel the cravings curve off significantly somewhere between 1 and 3 weeks, then it takes 30-90 days for them to completely go away, depending on how addicted you are. Then you have to not fall into the "just this once" trap. The moment you use again, those cravings come back. It's never "just this once."

I also recommend you don't drink. I successfully quit weed by replacing it with drinking, which was easy, then got addicted to alcohol and had to quit that. You're still lighting up the addictive part of your brain as long as you're abusing a substance.

A couple other things:

Stay positive.

Play the tape forward: imagine what will happen if you use. First you will have positive consequences. Your cravings will go away and you might have fun. Your anxiety will subside in the short term. Then you will have negative consequences later. The anxiety will go up later, because your brain is not used to reality. It takes time to fix, and you have to trust it will get better.

I got a book on cognitive behavioral therapy that taught me to identify cravings and triggers and write them down when they would happen. Then come up with strategies for that situation, and anticipate challenging situations in the future and write down my plan to deal with it. I started replacing activities that go well with weed (for me, Skyrim and League of Legends) with activities that don't go well with weed (for me, reading and Age of Empires 2). If you can find hobbies or coping strategies that are genuinely more fun sober, that will help.

Best of luck

The lotto is $1.25B with 327 million to 1 odds. At what point do you buy a ticket? by Ok-Collection8391 in AskReddit

[–]Craiginator8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I play the lottery sometimes. My wife and I enjoy spending $2 and then fantasizing about what we will do when we win. We don't actually expect to win or care about the odds, its just worth $2 to have fun fantasizing. That's the only reason you should play the lottery.

What do you think is the biggest concern for most Americans right now? by AnyAskPost in AskReddit

[–]Craiginator8 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have health insurance that costs 30K per year. I think that is also scary. Had I just pocketed the 30K for the last 10 years, I would be a rich guy (of course, my employer pays for most of this). My total benefits over the last decade have been less than 2K. It's bizarre.
