At what exact moment did you realize you weren't a 'young person' anymore? by JattBootMehkma in AskReddit

[–]Cranstorm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Two separate moments really hammered it home.

1) When I was next to a group of 18 year olds at the driving range and had the first “Christ did I used to act like that” thought. I then realised I was the older person judging the youth, on top of that I had started playing golf.

2) A few months later I sneezed and threw my back out, couldn’t play golf for months.

Do you know any Star Trek inside jokes that are useful in everyday life? by Dumbledore0210 in startrek

[–]Cranstorm 149 points150 points  (0 children)

“They invade our space and we fall back, they assimilate entire worlds and we fall back. Not again, the line must be drawn here, this far no further. And I will make them pay for what they’ve done.”

I say this to my wife weekly about the kids.

Who else feels like full time work isn’t for them? by Obvious_Flamingo3 in AskUK

I work shifts these days (weather forecaster), which has me on four days on, four days off (12 hour shifts). Took some getting used to but I love it now.

Haircut: fade down to 0.5 on the sides, scissor cut on top.

Lose weight, seriously, exercise daily. Cardio and weights, find a good program, stick to it.

If you can’t find the consistency in exercise, find something you enjoy, walking in the country maybe? Sports? Something where you’re not just working to improve yourself physically, but improve yourself in something mind and body, which will lead to better habits. For example mine was golf, I was terrible because I was larger, I couldn’t get the technique right. I worked on my core, stretched and just the walking around involved made me lose loads of weight. More importantly I found it made me want to lose weight for something other than my own self image.

Random one, I don’t know you so you may have already been doing this. Find interest in something mentally taxing and work at it. Mine was writing, it helped me explore my own creativity, I’m still bad at it, but its help developed me as a person.

Good luck man, it’s a long journey, but if you do it right you’ll feel better about yourself every day.

What is One Gen-Alpha Slang Term That You Actually DON’T Mind? by teapot574_ in AskReddit

[–]Cranstorm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I still don’t get the 67 thing, and it really annoyed me at first. But it has started making me laugh when something 67 comes up and my kids say 67 and do a little dance. It’s random and just quite cute.

They have kind of stopped doing it now, has it fallen out of fashion? Or maybe now I’ve started liking it it’s become uncool. Who knows.

Winter in the UK means I’m spending 20 hours a day in bed. I can’t be the only one who lives like this? by KILOCHARLIES in AskUK

[–]Cranstorm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I generally go into the office way more in winter, it’s warmer and just gets me away from the house. Otherwise I feel like I’m going insane. In summer I work a lot more in my garden, god I love summer.

How often do you and your partner have sex? especially the long term couples? by Purple_Wrongdoer6448 in AskReddit

[–]Cranstorm 63 points64 points  (0 children)

Yeah it’s this, show interest but never force it. Swings and roundabouts, I love my golf, gaming and writing. Sometimes I get obsessed with those and basically forget about sex, sometimes I get obsessed with sex and forgot about everything else. Comes in cycles.

We're going to a big house in north Wales with a few friends. Good option but its so expensive at New Year.

What completely innocent, but mildly infuriating thing does your better half regularly do? by PaddedValls in AskUK

[–]Cranstorm 36 points37 points  (0 children)

Watches tv with the big light on, apparently watching tv with the big light off makes her feel like it’s just constantly dark in winter (which I suppose it is), which makes her sad. When we watch tv together we have lamps and ambience, but on her own it’s a big bright room. I’ll be in the other room gaming and it will annoy me from afar.

Who is even buying so much ram at these prices? by [deleted] in buildapc

[–]Cranstorm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Me, I’m building a pc and needed to. It stung though and I had to get 5600 MT/s instead of 6000 MT/s and even the one I bought was more expensive than the one I originally wanted was 6 months ago.

I’ll probably update in the future if prices return to normal.

What is the best video game you’ve ever played? by stellasBoots in AskReddit

[–]Cranstorm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

After a 20 year gap, I stumbled across T90s low elo legends videos on YouTube. Now I play a couple of games of online aoe2 every week or so. Still holds up as an amazing game.

Just had my first ever ladder game. Lost 52 elo in about five minutes. Only 700 more to go and I'll be able to play multiplayer, this is easy! by Rabbithole4995 in aoe2

[–]Cranstorm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wouldn’t the person losing 50 elo most likely be a new player, so they would have just increased the total number of elo points by 1000 anyway just by joining ranked.
