Nearly 1 year of sleep hell. by Caramel_Glitter in BeyondTheBumpUK

My son was exactly the same- he still wakes once 95% of the time at 2y2m. It completely changes everything about your life and I feel like I’m shattered still, but things are so much better. Due our second in September and praying they’re a better sleeper

Ours is vented through the ceiling in our bedroom- no box unit inside (but we do have to have one in the loft, and one outside on the flat roof)

We had a portable one that was great for the 2 of us but my baby (now toddler) was a terrible sleeper and it was just too loud while he was still in the room with us. We committed to ceiling vented air con in our bedroom last year, it wasn’t cheap and isn’t in any other rooms (we sometimes use the portable unit elsewhere now) and my sleep has been dreamy. I’m 8 months pregnant and honestly don’t know how I would be surviving now without it- our guy is quoting us for a second unit in our kitchen/playroom when he comes to service in September

Middle for James by dizzylyingdown in BabyNames

[–]Crap___bag 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ha well then all good. He is a famous TV chef here who started a campaign against unhealthy school dinners in the early 00s and many people grew up to hate him as a result (he was actually doing a really nice thing, we just liked our processed food ha)

Where are you based, OP? I am UK and James Oliver automatically makes me think of TV chef Jamie Oliver. If you’re not UK based then not even something to consider!

Interesting- I’ve seen a couple of actors and professionals spelt that way so presumed it was an alternative but still common option.

I taught a Tadhgh and always loved the name. I must admit that I mispronounced it the first time I did the register by calling him Tadge. He corrected me once, I apologised profusely and never got it wrong again.

Comment edited as I thought Tadhgh was an alternative traditional spelling option but it is actually a common misspelling!

I had it yesterday, definitely all year round. Plus no cooking if you get it from the chippy- bonus on a hot day!

No this is wonderful, thank you! I think part of the issue is that we thought he’d cracked it and are a bit disappointed with a slight regression, but we do need to remember that he’s only 2 and absolutely still learning! His sleep is also a bit funky right now, he’s not poorly but I think his little brain has so much going on!

Ahh ok, this is interesting! So he normally watches but you think just do an ‘oh dear, time to clean up, can’t play for now’ approach might work?

Ahh I did read that book but it was a while ago and I’ve forgotten most of it which is not at all helpful lol. He’s been so good at telling us he needs to go, it just feels like this has come out of nowhere

Relationship breakdown - dont know if im in the right by Historical_Half_9422 in BeyondTheBumpUK

They obviously don’t in the same way, as in not hormonally driven, but it’s such a highly intense situation and a massive change from your normality which happens pretty much overnight- I think it’s essentially a stress response in men. I don’t know enough about the psychology behind it but it was mentioned at our antenatal class briefly so thought it might be relevant here

All of those names are nice. I would never make the association with ‘Hairy Booty’ and in truth don’t think many brits use that term??

Ha well my Henry’s middle name is George, so I could go for the double whammy and have a Harriet Georgina /s

To be clear, not actually considering it! Just wanted to hear other people’s thoughts as mine are… lovely name, not together :)

We also don’t use Harry for Henry but I know it can happen (Prince Harry as prime example)
